SUMEYA- The pop-duo SUMEYA blends soul, funk, jazz, clubby grooves and oriental sounds into modern international pop music. The charismatic mezzo-soprano Sumeya Hammami grew up in Germany. She already started singing in school, writing songs and performing internationally with several choirs and acts. In Berlin her oriental heritage meets with guitar-player Thomas Janowskij, who has a background in all modern styles. Together they are developing a unique sound – urban, soulful, oriental, electronic, fresh and club-proof. SUMEYA and their live-band are taking their audiences in by inspired performances, alive with oriental sensuality. They feel equally at home on the stages of larger festivals and in smaller clubs. 2007 the cd ‘ we run this place ‘ ( Zaria Music ) is published, on the air through german radio now, an increasing number of international stations discovering SUMEYA . Two of their songs ( ‘ Masr ‘ and ‘ Ya Aziz ‘ ) can be found on the samplers ‘ Oriental Garden ‘, Vol. IV and V ( Lolas World ), with artists like Khaled, Tarkan, Natasha Atlas and Rashid Taha. Following successful concerts in 2007 they are winning the contest of the Senate of Berlin for the second time. Drummers : drums - www.sumeya.de SUMEYA - Das Berliner Pop Duo SUMEYA verbindet mühelos Soul, Funk, Jazz, Club-Grooves und orientalische Sounds zu moderner internationaler Popmusik. Die charismatische Mezzosopranistin Sumeya Hammami wuchs in Deutschland auf. Sie begann schon sehr früh zu singen, Songs zu schreiben und performte international mit mehreren Chören und Bands. Ihre orientalische Herkunft trifft auf den Gitarristen Thomas Janowskij, der einen Background in allen modernen Stilistiken hat. Gemeinsam entwickeln sie ihren unverkennbaren Sound - urban, orientalisch, beseelt, elektronisch, frisch und clubtauglich. SUMEYA und ihre Liveband überzeugen ihr Publikum durch ihr mitreißendes Zusammenspiel voller Lebensfreude und orientalischer Sinnlichkeit. Sie fühlen sich auf großen Festivalbühnen ebenso zu Hause wie in kleinen Clubs. Anfang des Jahres 2007 veröffentlichten sie ihre aktuelle CD “ We run this place “ ( Zaria Music ), die mittlerweile in den Playlists deutscher Radiosender vertreten ist. Zwei ihrer arabischen Songs ( ..Masr.. und ..Ya Aziz.. ) sind auf den Samplern Oriental Garden Vol. IV und V ( Lolas World ) mit KünstlerInnen wie Khaled, Tarkan, Natasha Atlas und Rashid Taha erschienen. Nach erfolgreichen Konzerten gewinnen sie 2007 zum zweiten Mal den Berliner Senatswettbewerb.
