BIG changes for The Duhks!

Hello dear Duhks fans and friends!

Happy 2010! We hope to find you all well and carrying on the spirit of the various holidays that you may have celebrated this past December.

After a full spring, summer and fall in the US, like confused Duhks, we have migrated North for the holidays! In –50c, the only thing that really keeps you warm is your family and friends. Enough with the weather talk though…

For the past 8 years, we (The Duhks) have been touring almost non-stop – in Canada (our home country), in almost every state in the US, Australia, the Caribbean, Denmark, Ireland and the UK. In 2008 alone, we spent 10 months of the year on the road - you gotta love it ;)

With all that travel and time away we have decided to take some time off, to land and reconnect with our loved ones and pursue personal endeavors. We’ll do our best to keep you updated on all of our adventures!

On another note, with this time off comes some change for the band. Our amazing fiddle player Tania Elizabeth has decided to move on. We are definitely sad to see her go, but we send her much love and wish her the best as she gives shape to old and new dreams.

We will however, have a few shows in the coming year, Merle Fest being the first to be confirmed (featuring Casey Driesen on the Fiddle!). There are a few other dates on the horizon so please check back for new dates!

There have been so many unbelievable and outstanding moments, including the jam at Merle Fest with John Paul Jones (only 3 weeks after Sarah joined!), recording 'Fast Paced World’ with our wonderful producer Jay Joyce, and recently, having the honor of opening for our new extended family Los Lobos!

As you know, we love the amazing festivals we get to play, most of them on a regular basis: Suwannee Spring Fest and Magnolia Fest (home of some of our favorite bands, Donna The Buffalo, Jim Lauderdale, Casey Driesen, Lee Boys…), Merle Fest, Festival International de la Louisiane, Shakori Hills Grass Roots Fest, Floyd Fest, Tonder Festival, Winnipeg Folk Fest, Hardly Strictly Bluegrass festival, Bonnaroo, and the list goes on… We will be at every one of them in Spirit!

We can’t tell you how much it all means to us to run into our old friends, or meet you for the first time, and of course, share our music with such generous and beautiful people. We love you and can’t wait to see you down the road!

Sincerely,

The Duhks

Ok but while your on this well deserved break, and it is just a break right, I would hope you would create a new album, and I would wish that when it comes out, it would include the song Whole Lot of Love, wow you nailed that one. and then when you come back out to promote your new Album, make your first stop here in Minnesota, we are your neighbors ya know. Love your Music,  and remember your calling is to make the world dance to your music. Hope to see you again one day soon.

Wow. Totally understand you guys want to take a break after playing so much awesome music for us fans for so long, but it sucks I still haven't had a chance to see you play live. Luck to Tania in the future, and here's hoping you come raging back soon!
