Love people and use things NOT Love things and use people.

MUSIC- playing it, writing it, listening to it.

Inspriation, in no particular order,...Music, Family, Friends, Guinness, jack daniels, red wine (lady Rouge if you will), Jamesons, hope, breathing....

I play guitar and sing in Hip Route (myspace.com/hiproute) ..> I am a believer in 'writing what you know'- you have to feel what you are singing/playing about if you want other people to feel something when they hear it. - "you can't fool music."- (Ben Harper). I have a kind of jackyl and hyde thing going on when i write, sometimes I want to spend time writing about the usual stuff -(relationships/friendships/love/loss/respect for our mother earth) and other times I just want to write songs about playing with my kids or my fine wife. The latter, if i'm honest, are usually the songs that put the biggest smile on my face :)

When Hip Route temporarily became 'sans' rhythm section in early 2007 I decided I would put some of my other tunes out there (products of what i like to call my 'billy-no-mates in the kitchen sessions') and keep the name going by doing some solo gigs. It took me by suprise when they went well.... :) and i've been lucky and priviledged enough to share the stage with Newton Faulkner, The Hoosiers, Ash Grunwald, Carus Thompson (both from Australia- you should really check 'em out!), Oli Brown, Martin Harley Band, Ben Howard (amazing), Watermelon Slim (legend) and Carvin Jones amongst others. And my first solo release 'One take Kitchen' is selling well...which is nice... ;-)

just little old me (but i'm always up for a jam!) on occasion i'm joined by Hip Route members, Ces (Lady of Percussion and groove) amongst other friends ;-) today i'll mostly be playing...acoustic/electric/lap slide guitars, weissenborn, vocals, percussion, ukulele, kazoo(!), the back of my guitar, and anything that makes a noise.
