Hello. We are The Suns. ..

The River Dee may not be tidal, nor is it deep enough to surf, but somehow, somewhere, Chester groovers The Suns have managed to tap into the spirit of the forgotten vices of tremolo abuse and spring reverb addiction and made it their own...

In the summer of 2006, The Suns (Jono Screamin' & Shakin' , Dave Bangin' & Thumpin, Liam Inventin' & Hollerin', Rutter Verbin' & Slidin', Joe Fuzzin' & Ooooin' ) played their first gig at Jones's in Chester.

Inspired by American garage groups like Brian Jonestown Massacre, Flat Duo Jets, The Black Lips, Best of British, the Stones and the Beatles and country legends Johnny Cash and Link Wray, The Suns spent hours in Liam's garage rehearsing and recording hours worth of demo's honing their thing.

Out of these long days in the garage they knocked out Surf Nightmare, picked up by Xfm DJ Clint Boon (Inspiral Carpets) who on hearing it for the first time said "how cool is that" and proceeded to play it back to back on his show. The instrumental became a fixture on his play list for the next few years as well as gaining airplay on several other Northwest radio stations.

All dressed in black, The Suns gigged relentlessly thoughout the Northwest, supporting the likes of Kid British, The Black Lips, Dodgy, The Bishops, Howard Marks, Twisted Wheel and The Masonics. Also putting on their own unique gigs such as The Lady Diana Show Boat along the River Dee last summer. 2011 brought along festival appearances at Friends of Mine (The Lightning Seeds, The Cribs, The Charlatans), Cavfest (James, Rowetta) and Chester Rocks (Iggy Pop, Shaun Ryder, Leftfield)

Big Trouble In Little Deva, The Suns début album was released in 2010 on Plainsounds Records. With lyrics telling yarns from Chester with a back drop of spaghetti western inspired Latino garage rock, it was both an old and totally fresh sound, gaining the band a cult following.

Now into 2012 The Suns are working on new material for the follow up to Big Trouble In Little Deva. With a brand new single and video for the song Jessica out on Stereokill records on 27th March and with the big gig at Chester Rocks, The Suns will be rising.

"The Suns are one of the few bands around making real garage music with a totally contemporary feel. Live, they’re f**kin brilliant. They’re the kind of band I want to be in" (Clint Boon of the Inspiral Carpets & Xfm)

"Apart from the last song i thought they were fucking shite" (Some bloke stood at the bar at the catholic club)

"A little bit of Jagger’s swagger, a hint of Hendrix and a double dose of Morrison’s madness" (Telfords Warehouse)

"Jono's deep croon, heavy use of maracas and Rutter's glorious spaghetti-western guitar lines all pile up into an intoxicating stew that manages the rare and impressive trick of being universally likeable yet intriguingly original." (Manchester Music Dash review)
