About me:
major update:
0¢ has been going through some changes as of late, and a second 0¢ has been started by my good comrade blank space in halifax. this is somewhat the direction 0¢ is headed--we'd been emailing back and forth and he came to me with the idea of starting multiple distros in different towns, all going under 0¢ as an umbrella name, to make free literature that much more accessible and easy to find in different places. what i'm getting at, basically, is that you should start your own 0¢!

starting your own 0¢:
the only "rule": everything's free. feel free to take donations, though. myself and blank space do this. there are no limits to what you could carry (just no fascist bullshit); make yours unique! hand out zines, patches, crafts, films, food, music, books, can openers, instruments, whatever! i always tried to focus on local material, personally, but run yours how you want, then contact me so i can add your contact to the list i'm going to make.

lastly:
i think i'm going to be roaming around/living in eastern canadaish for the next while, making little trips around with free stuff, doing 0¢ anywhere. once i have a few things i'll throw them up online and start doing mail order again, too. everyone who's supported this, thank you!

VICTORIA's 2nd ANNUAL ANARCHIST BOOKFAIR
Friday, Saturday and Sunday, September 7,8,9 2007, 11am-6pm
At the Victoria Coolaid Society
749 Pandora St., Victoria, BC

We are glad to announce the second year of the only Anarchist Bookfair on
the Canadian west coast. This year, the anarchist bookfair will be part of
the week-long Festival of Anarchy. This event is an important exchange of
anarchist and anti-authoritarian ideas. The Bookfair is for anarchists and
non-anarchists, with participants from all over North America and beyond.
The events include book and information tables, workshops, readings,
films, presentations, and much more. The festival of Anarchy will take
place in the week after the bookfair with diverse events organized by
anarchist and anti-authoritarian groups.

Proposal callouts for workshops, presentations, street art exhibits,
films, Festival of Anarchy events and tables are included below. We look
forward to your suggestions and contributions!

*****************************************************
* 2. Workshops, presentations…want to participate? *
*****************************************************

The bookfair organizing collective is currently seeking workshop and
presentation proposals. We are looking for workshops on anarchism, or an
aspect of anarchism, aimed at people who are curious about, or new to,
anarchist ideas. We are also looking for proposals that address an
anarchist-themed topic in some depth, and are intended for people who are
already familiar with anarchism, or might identify as anarchists.

--> For more information about proposing workshops and presentations,
including basic guidelines, please consult our temporally website.
http://www.myspace.com/victoriaanarchistbookfair

NOTE: The deadline for all workshop and presentation proposals is July 1st
2007.

******************************
* 3. How to request a table *
******************************

The heart of the bookfair is the main room including booksellers,
distributors, independent presses and political groups from all over BC,
North America, and abroad. Please make sure to read our statements of
principles before contacting us to request a table. If you haven't
tabled at the bookfair before, please include a short description of your
group and the material you intent to distribute at the bookfair.

NOTE: The deadline to request a table is August 1st 2007.

***************************************
* 4. Callout, Art Exhibits and Films *
***************************************

The Victoria Anarchist Bookfair will be displaying artwork relating to
anarchism and anti-authoritarian, indigenous or anarchist-supported
struggles. Please consider proposing an exhibit of photos, posters,
original art, repros - anything within the parameters of the Bookfair that
can be displayed in free standing or placed in a corner!

The Victoria Anarchist Bookfair will also considerate street arts,
posters, chalks arts, performance art, showing films related to anarchism
or anarchist-supported struggles that fall within the principles of the
Anarchist Bookfair.

NOTE: The deadline for art exhibit and film proposals is July 1st 2007.

*******************************************
* 5. Callout, Festival of Anarchy Events *
*******************************************

In addition to the Bookfair, a “Festival of anarchy” will happen during
the following week, with diverse anarchist-themed events occurring at
different venues in Victoria. If you want to organize a show, art
exhibition, conference, panel, workshop, teach-in or any other event
related to anarchism, it is the perfect moment, go for it!

absolute underground review of obey/destroy:

the nerve review of obey/destroy:

V/A
ODmagazine compilation
Pickled Whale Meat

ODmagazine is a depressing, socially concious rant session, published in a little shack in Maple Ridge with photocopies and staples. Art, music, poetry, life under the heel of the Vancouver Olympic Committee--OD's about as D.I.Y. underground as it gets. And FREE! Now they've got a comp.--also FREE!--a monstrous 28 tracks of metal/punk and Plow heaven. April's CD release party was at the Monkey Pit was an all-night success, but I bailed early for the Big Smash! Festival's screening of Big Rock (thanks Kier-la!), scoping only three acts, most notably opener Execution 66's sterile brand of strained-lung punk-thrash. On record they sound like a clogged toilet. Each OD disc is individually spray-painted (RAD!), and the production value is best summarized by their distribution label (0¢), but time and sheer love has turned a mess of unbalanced basement recordings and antagonistic genres into a flowing, cohesive whole, with spoken word and movie clips to boot. Specific goodies: Jaded Jinas--one of two female vocals on the comp. (the other's an endearing boozed-out guitar/vocal secret track). The Jina's sing "Get into my truck. I'm on the rag and I need a good fuck. Elsewhere, The Joint Chiefs stomp through "Who Do You Trust?, " The Rebel Spell completely wail with "Bring Em In, " Boy Bled Dry mangles us with awkward treble-y fret slides, and The Likely Lads shout "We'll all be dead in 2010, " about a million times. One final bizzarity--the crossed-out name in the thank you notes. Brutal!
