Comprising current members Kylie and Amps, and ex-guitarist Dave, Ostia formed in 1992 in Brisbane (Qld, Australia) and soon captured the attention of the local goth community via their gloomy live performances and home-made cassette releases. It wasn't long before the band earned support from the European gothic communities after their inclusion on several genre compilations. A line-up change in 1996, with the introduction of guitarist Justin, brought the band their now signature ethereal-pop sound that often inspires comparison with bands such as Cocteau Twins, Love Spirals Downwards, etc. The release of the 1997 mini-album “From the Aether”, and several additional compilation appearances, solidified Ostia’s local and international reputation as one of Australia’s most unique independent bands. Ostia disbanded following their 1998 ‘From the Aether' tour.
After reforming in 2005, Ostia spent the next eighteen months writing and recording their first new material in almost ten years. Their acclaimed “Between Two Cities” EP was released by Justin’s ‘Galasono Records’ label in April 2007. Ostia are currently (albeit slowly!) working on new music and hope to release a new EP in 2009.

Hello!!! It's been awhile - sorry there hasn't been in any Australian shows for many months but we've been busy in Europe with a bunch of touring and we're now recording our new album in Berlin (scheduled for release in March). But to make up for it, here's a big (and silly) Merry Christmas from us (and from some hippos too) :

January 24 will be the last show Lilly’s Ether ever play together and i've been lucky enough to be asked to play on the night. They are also launching their EP on this night. Also playing will be Big Dead, Jim Grundy, The William Moon Book Society the Anima Orchestra. Entry: $10.00 or $8.00 for 4zzz subscribers. Doors at eight.
