OBTEST is considered to be one of the best Lithuanian pagan metal bands. The band came to existence in 1992 by the effort of two men, Sadlave and Baalberith. In summer of 1993 black metal storm reached the wastes of Lithuanian lands and OBTEST horde joined it because of its antichristian and warlike ideas. In summer of 1994, after a year in the deep underground, OBTEST recorded the first rehearsal tape featuring three tracks: Myth Of the Poor Souls, Oldness Coming, and My Beloved Land. Drums were recorded by Insmuth, the third member.
On April 19, 1995, the first studio demo "Oldness Coming" was recorded. Demo contains three tracks: Riding through the Remembrances, Oldness Coming, and Blstani vaigdi Tyljimas (Silence of the Parting Stars). On December 22, 1995 the second studio demo "Prie Audr" (Before the Tempest) was released by "Vetco Menesio Vaizbuva" label as its first release. Drums were recorded by Bestial. Demo contains five tracks: anga (Intro), Myth of the Poor Souls, Burning Light is Haunting...Me, Prie Audr (Before the Tempest), and Blstani vaigdi Tyljimas (Silence of the Parting Stars).
The first full-length MC album of the band "Tkstantmetis" ("Millennium") was released in 1997 (turned into CD in 1999). This album started a new phase in the band's life. Several thousand years of fighting the Christians as well as the surviving heathen traditions have inspired OBTEST to pay honour to the ancestors whose spirit and blood are still seething in us. Its next full-length album "Auka Seniems Dievams" ("Offering to the Ancient Gods") enjoyed an even greater popularity in Lithuania and abroad. Since 2000 the band has been touring much in Europe and also giving some concerts in Lithuania. The band is finishing the recordings of its third full-length album at the beginning of 2005.
The new album is called "I kartos kart" and was issued by Ledo Takas label in CD and vinyl formats. The band made an extensive European tour presenting the new work abroad as well as in Lithuania.
