Straightforward, hard working and powerful are words that come to mind when asked to describe 1000 Miles Ahead.
Hailing from Gelderland (The Netherlands), with their roots in Nijmegen, 1000 Miles Ahead is a band that works hard to get their name established in the melodic hardcore scene, in and beyond the boundaries of The Netherlands.
Started out April 2006, 1000 Miles Ahead plays fast paced melodic hardcore. Bands like Good Riddance, Gorilla Biscuits and the Dutch band Crivits come to mind when looking for a comparison. Text wise 1000 Miles Ahead gets their inspiration from everyday social issues often with a personal undertone.
With their hard work and DIY mentality they obtained quite a few shows. Stages were shared with Giving Chase (USA), FTX (FR), Woof (DE), The Apers (NL), The Real Danger (NL), Smash the Statues (NL) and many more.
In May 2007 a demo was recorded by the infamous Michiel Toenink. This demo was released in August 2007. And they got the chance to do a small tour in France early 2008.
Summer 2008 singer Gijs and guitar player Tom decided to quit. Fall 2008 Maarten (ex Press For Go) joined as their new singer and soon after, Micha (ex Facing Down and ex Townsville), was recruited as their new guitar player.
In this complete new, strong and dedicated line up they recorded 2 new songs with Nico van Montfort early January 2009. These song are available on the bands MySpace. Right now, they are ready to get back on the road! At the end of April, beginning of May they will embark on a 10 days tour to Germany, France and Spain. After that they will focus on writing new material for the long awaited full length which hopefully will see the light of day before the ending of this year.
Tim Vantol's "Road Sweet Road" LP is finally here. Nine folkpunk themes from a modern beatnik man. Haze colored 12" vinyl. 300 hand numbered copies, with four colored hand screened sleeve. Comes with a MP3 download code.
