About me:
PLEASE ATTEND THESE TWO UPCOMING HEARINGS!!

2007 REGIONAL PLAN UPDATE
Public Hearing Schedule
The Regional Planning Commission has scheduled public hearings to receive testimony and consider action to recommend adoption of the draft 2007 Regional Plan to the Regional Planning Governing Board as follows:

Citizens for Sensible Growth formed in February 2006 in response to the outrageous development that is devouring open land around Reno/Sparks. CSG believes that growth is important for our community and economy, but it should be done in a managed way that doesn't destroy our open spaces.

CSG members routinely speak at City Council, County Commission and Regional Planning Governing Board meetings. We hold anti-sprawl protests, write letters to the editor about the growth issue, and work hard to educate the community on growth issues. We also support candidates and elected officials who believe in managed growth that upholds the quality of life for area residents while preserving the wilderness and open spaces for which Northern Nevada is known.

In the upcoming months, some of our members will be focusing on a growth petition lobbying the legislature, while other members will be working organization structure, offices, committees, vision and mission statements, future goals, 2007 monthly agenda, membership recruitment, etc. Please message us with any questions, or if you would like to be added to our email list.

Contact Box Generated from http://myspacesupport.com
Who I'd like to meet:
People who love Reno/Sparks and want to live here for many years. Also, people willing to actively stand up for citizen's rights, which are being trampled on over the growth issue.

Washoe County voters will be faced with ten ballot questions this election year. The following three are worth considering:

WCSD #1 - Raises the sales and use tax 1/4 cent beginning on July 1, 2009, for the purpose of equipping the Washoe County School District's older schools and making them safer and more modernized.

WC #3 - Amends the the Truckee Meadows Regional Plan and requires that local government development plans be based upon identified and sustainable water resources available within Washoe County.

RTC #5 - Authorizes the Washoe County Board of Commissioners to seek state legislation for the Regional Transportation Commission to obtain additional funding for transportation projects that reduce traffic congestion, improve air quality, and repair roads in the Truckee Meadows.

I am not big into petitions but this one is to preserve an ice age park in the LasVegas area. There are countless thigs that we can all learn from this land and really we don't need to build anymore in the desert anyway. It would be nice to leave some natural for future generations instead of it being swallowed up by casinos, condos and golf courses.

Thanks,
T.H.

On the online petition YOU DO NOT HAVE TO DONATE ANYTHING. Just go to

www.ipetitions.com/petition/iceagepark and after you put your name, email and any comments and click sign petition you will see a page comes up that says...."signature recorded" and a list of amounts. You are done. Just exit the site and no donation required. Anyone in the Country to sign this petition, registered voter or not.

ATTENTION RENO RESIDENTS~ RE: Tahoe fire

Hi everyone,

I was just on Reno Gazette getting some updates on the fire in Tahoe. It is devastating. So many people have lost everything. What do you think of a bunch of us getting together this weekend at a certain spot where people can drop off-donate food, water, blankets, pillows, jackets, clothes, etc??

I am sure people have pets, too and need leashes, collars, dog/cat bowls, beds, and food!

We can do this. Spread the word, and we will make it happen!!!

I say this Sunday between 12pm and 4pm we ask that residents drop off supplies at a designated spot (help me figure out a good spot). We will then drive it up to the fire victims!

please write and tell me what you think!!! Can you volunteer and help me out??

Thanks everyone!!
All my best,
Emery

You are invited to attend and participate in Reno's first Green Summit event!

Green Summit
When: Thursday, April 19, 1-5 p.m.
Where: Reno Sparks Convention Center (North Entrance) General Meeting A-1 and A-6
Driving Directions | RTC Bus Routes (1&6)
Parking: Free Parking at North Parking Lot on Peckham Road

The Reno City Council has made one of its priorities creating a Green, or "Sustainable Community" action plan for the coming Fiscal Year. As part of this effort, they will draw on local experts and activists to help determine what City government can do to benefit the environment.

The Green Summit is an opportunity for you to participate, and help develop plans to reduce emissions, improve energy efficiency, recycle, create sustainable building practices, use environmentally friendly products and contribute in other ways to protect our environment.

The Green Summit will include a keynote address by Bill Becker, a national expert on sustainable development, and four concurrent "break-out sessions" with local and regional experts, to discuss and brainstorm ideas related to:

Transportation
Green Building
Zero Waste Initiatives
Renewable Energies
