HISTORY:
Scolari's Office began in August of 1983 under the namesake of longtime owner George Scolari. From the mid-80's to the mid-90's it was a cool hang out for local dart/pool players and (you guessed it) drinkers. Fridays & Saturdays would see Scolari's get filled with these types. Then in mid-1999 Big Freddy Poore (legendary bartender, R.I.P.) talked to one Ben Johnson (current singer of The Long and Short of It and drummer of Hostile Comb-Over) who lived upstairs from the bar in the infamous Rooster House. Ben, then drumming for Tourette's Lautrec, asked Freddy if they could play the bar along with another San Diego art-dive favorite, Freedom For Saturn on an upcoming Saturday. George gave Freddy his stamp of approval and the rest is history. The bar was packed that particular Saturday and Scolari's has since become a favorite stop for bands from all over the U.S., the world, and (of course) a barrage of San Diego acts. So a big thank you goes to Big Freddy. We all love you and miss you very much! And thank you Ben Johnson and the bands that played that night!
After 25 years in the bar business George Scolari decided to sell his bar and enjoy retirement. This left 100s of bands without a place to play in San Diego. With the help of Chris Henry, a former Scolaris employee, and local bar owner James, we were able to move all the shows and entertainment to Chasers. Located at 3615 El Cajon Blvd, the location is a little different but the music and ethic remain the same.
