About me: As you all know, I am Mel Gibson, I like to make movies, both act in them and direct them, generic Austrailian sports, winning awards, expressing my faith, and getting shitfaced drunk in public. I like making anti-semmetic remarks, but seriously...I'm not anti-semmetic. I want to use this myspace to show the affects of alcohol abuse to the children who shouldn't have myspace accounts in the first place. Drinking booze is not good, it is very unhealthy. I was a drinker at a very young age and look where I am today, I'm one of the most famous people in the world and a star actor...you've been warned. I will be the first to say that there is nothing fun about drinking beer...even though I have a ball doing it. So if you ever have the chance to drink beer, just say no and drink a can of pop so all the kids at the party you are attending can make fun of you. And to all the older people on myspace, drink as much beer as you can, it's so fun to get trashed!
Take the quiz: What kind of drunk are you?! <> Party Drunk! You are the kind of person that likes to be the life of the party. You are out going and every body likes to be around you casue you are so off the wall and funny.
Who I'd like to meet: My Savior Jesus Christ, Captain Sugartits, a therapist, someone who will buy me beer, YOU!

The Diasia is a celebration toward the end of the month in which rituals are performed and offerings are made to Zeus Meilikhios, a chthonic manifestation of the god (he appears as a snake). A chthonic creature is one that appears to come up out of the ground or up from the underworld. Obviously, there is a metaphor for the approach of Spring. Little honeyed cakes are baked for Zeus in the shapes of animals, grains, and fertility foods.
The Theogamia marks the beginning of this lunar month, celebrating the sacred union of Male and Female manifest in Zeus and Hera, and the end of this lunar month (in early February by your calendar) the Gamelion festival celebrates new marriages, new loves, new beginnings.
...and in the natural order of things, the Gamelion also marks the promise of Spring and fertility that is just around the corner.
The main rites for Poseidon occured on the eighth day of the lunar month, eight being sacred to Poseidon (notice that Neptune, the Roman name for Poseidon, is the eighth planet from the sun). Some people, especially sailors like myself, also observed a day afterward for sacrifice to the wind gods.
The main festival is the Maimakteria, where we prayed to Zeus Maimaktes ("The Blustering Zeus") in his aspect as the lord of winds, to be kind as we entered into our winter season. May there be only warmth and happiness on the breeze for you.
PLAYING WITH THE NORTH WIND by the late Susan Seddon-Boulet, her last work as she faced the premature winter of her life.
The Apaturia was the four day and three night autumn festival held by the Phratria, the associations of descent that functioned kind of like Clans, but would include people not related by blood. Zeus Phratria and Athena Phratria were the manifestations of the god and goddess presiding over the events. This is the time of year when Phratria would induct new members with ceremonies and revelry: so much so that the fourth day was actually a day where no one worked because everybody was recovering from the partying! LOL
It's no coincidence that many universities have fraternity and sorority "rushes" and inductions at this time of year, as their systems creatively emulate many ancient Greek activities and values.
I hope you get to party hearty with new true friends that will stand by you through the years.
My favourite celebration is, of course, Kharisteria or "The Thanksgiving" which began after the amazing defeat of the Persians at Marathon, a battle in which I was an officer as a young man. Additionally, the month of September is when a united Greece finally defeated the Persians after decades of conflict in a pair of epic, celebrated three-day battles of which I was the architect of the land and sea defences: Thermopylae/Artemisium and Plataea/Salamis. Please read my page about these important events where a small group of determined, committed, well-prepared people prevailed against incredible odds. Never forget, there ARE things worth fighting to the death for. There ARE. Every noble and reasonable person needs to know what things are worth life to him or her. What is worth it to you?
