Sounds Like
ODd MAN OUT sounded like...well i don't know. We mostly played clubs with a bad PA system so we never really heard very well on stage. No really, we always did our best to make sure everyone was having a real good time. We saw our shows as a party. You tell us what we sounded like!
Odd Man Out hailed from Statesville, North Carolina and began in early 2000. They were a Christian band dedicated to sharing the message of Jesus Christ through the music that they played and the fun moments that were had on and off the stage. They were one of the many great bands to come out of Statesville during an era when the scene was booming. Odd Man Out had three releases (Traditionally Modern, Useless Confrontation EP-this one is rare, and To You I Go) and two compilation releases (Velvet Blue Music/ Burning Ears Comp and HM magazine Comp), along with magazine reviews in HM magazine, and Q music (Danish publication), AND tons of regional small tours and one southern tour. The band started out as three piece but eventually added a second guitarist and vocalist, Mike Murphy. This addition helped mold OMO's sound from fast high energy pop punk to a more matured sound focused on melody. Odd Man Out shared the stage with so many great and talented bands (local and national acts) in the years they had together. There were too many to name them all, but a few favorite friends and supporters were Split Cast, Stronghold, Beloved, AHF, Amicus, Civil Blood, The Combat Junkies, Adam Motropolis and Mid-Year. We were so grateful to all our friends and fans for their undying support during this time.
The intent of this site is to re-live a memory and to say thank you for the time we had together, thanks for listening, and it is and was our prayer that we touched your life half as much as you touched ours.
ODDMANOUT
Hey, you competing in the Battle of the Bands this year? Deadline for demos is a week from today (Sep 21st). It's gonna be in Charlotte. Just wondering...
i just remembered that time that you guys played at that bar on the campus of ecu and that lady said she would only give you money if she could put it kevins pants....good times.
Old bands never die......we just re-unite on myspace! Long live the ones who made Statevegas bearable for us all! Hey, we had to do something........well, all we had was a Ross, but what the heck.
I'm getting a new band together here in Wilmington......gonna call it Sunset Killers. It may even be slightly better than Phandango, but then again, I posess little talent on that darned guit-fiddle-banjo-thingy! *sigh*.... some things never change.
So, we need to get a show together at the UR with stronghold and POC soon. If you guys are gonna be practicing at Chip's this Sunday we'll come over and try to get something together. oh and tell kevin I found that neon green paint he was looking for. I was gonna give it to him last week but he just got up and left without saying anything.
Ok dudes, well if you guys dont practice on Sun, we'll def hook something up on monday before monday nitro.
Oh, and tell CJ that I had to call Megan today to ask her about a picture she took of us at a show last month, so if he sees my number on her cell phone tell him not to freak out and stab me in the face like he did last time.
Ok guys peace out. Can you believe it'll be 1999 in a few days? Crazy man... crazy.
