Brooklyn-based duo 1050 rocks the stage with their infectious brand of live improv dance music. Their sound spans the map of dance styles, from drum-&-bass and deep house to IDM and trip-hop. With roots in jazz, jam-rock and funk fusion, the two musicians use a combination of real-time loops, improvisation, and textured instrumentation to create their live experience.
Comprised of Alan D on bass and keyboards and YN on drums and guitar, the band has played together in various incarnations since 1997. Beginning with DC-based jazz-funk outfit Tim the Canadian, which also included members of Black & Tan Fantasy Band, MarchFourth Marching Band, & the Jean-Marie, Alan and YN have honed their live skills in many contexts.
Currently, Alan D also plays with NYC electroclash duo Jen Urban & the Box. YN is a member of international avant-jazz conglomerate The Action Group. They both also play rhythm section for Zack Hagan.
