My father was a ship captain who died in a distant port when I was a four years old. i felt in love with Shopia Peabody, and we get married on July 9, 1842. We lived in "Old Manse" in Concord for Three years. we had three children their names are Una Hawthorne, Julian Hawthorne, and Rose Hawthorne. I went to Bowdoin College where I met poet Henry Wadsworth alongfellow, a life long friend, he was a classmate. Also I wrote a campaign biography for my friend Franklin Pierce president of the United States in 1852. Then Pierce appointed me to the Consul of liverpool a position that I held for four years.
