Above all else, I enjoy writing. I don't have anything published at the moment but I've been working on a few novels for a while now. I primarily write dark fantasy/horror and mysteries (on the hardboiled side, I hope). I'm an avid comics reader and collector (always a reader first!). I also have the beginnings of a nice vintage paperback collection. I've had a website of my own since 1999, Why Not? Universe which I update once in a while.
Music
It goes a lot of places really...big fan of the Grateful Dead and all the spin-offs (Ratdog, Phil Lesh and Friends, so on). I really like Phish and all of their solo works and side projects, too. I listen to a lot of classic rock, metal (Iron Maiden!), prog, some punk, horror punk (Misfits and Calabrese) Neil Diamond (the man is his own genre) and so on. Some classical (Mahler), jazz and a little blues. I'm really a folkie at heart, though--my favorite song writers are Paul Simon, Bob Dylan, Tom Waits and Robert Hunter (in no particular order).
Movies
Horror movies are my lifelong love--particularly the classic Universal monsters and Hammer horror, but also newer things. That said, I think Godfather II would be my favorite single film. I grew up with Star Wars and still love them, prequels included. Naturally, like anyone, I enjoy a good comedy, but my DVD collection in that regard is slim. My secret shame is how insanely much I love Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.
Television
Doctor Who, The Office, House, Bones, Heroes, Primeval, 30 Rock, Family Guy, South Park, The Simpsons, MonsterQuest, Torchwood, the 1980s Sherlock Holmes with Jeremy Brett (thanks to DVD), and I find it shamefully impossible to avoid watching American Idol no matter how often I vow not to do so between seasons.
Books
Raymond Chandler, H.P. Lovecraft, John D. MacDonald, Stan Lee, Michael Crichton, Stephen King, Arthur Conan Doyle, Robert E. Howard, H.G. Wells, Peter Benchley, Walter B. Gibson, Edgar Rice Burroughs, Ross Macdonald, Mickey Spillane, Lester Dent, Dashiell Hammett, Ed McBain, Louis L'Amour. We are also lucky to be living in a time when Warren Ellis is writing. I'll read virtually anything if it catches my interest, but my leanings are horror, mystery, and fantastic/speculative fiction. I also read tons of comics, but I've said that before. My all-time favorites are The Dark Knight Returns and The Crisis on Infinite Earths. Other past favorites include Transmetropolitan, Starman, Sandman Mystery Theater, and Hitman (all gone but not forgotten). My favorite monthly has always been Detective Comics. You wouldn't know it by reading that rundown, but I actually read loads of Marvel Comics, too, and have a stack of Essential Marvel paperbacks much taller than myself. Incidentally, yes, my predictable favorite Marvel character is Spider-Man. But I liked Iron Man back when it was really uncool.
Heroes
Galvatron, King Ghidorah, Reddy Kilowatt, the Seventh Doctor, and the Jollibee.

I saw a werewolf drinking a pina colada at Trader Vic's. His hair was perfect.
No, really, I'm 29, and basically I'm working on writing some fiction these days. I read a lot (including a pretty hearty amount of comics), spend as much time writing as I can, I sometimes try to understand the game of cricket, my secret goal in life is to be a stage magician, and I had once tried like hell for some six months or so to never ever sign up for MySpace and, as you can see, failed miserably, although it's not the first time.
I had also once sworn I would never post a photograph of myself anywhere on the internet. There goes that, too.
Who I'd like to meet: I've already met Adam West, so that really wiped out my list of celebrities to meet. I guess I'd want to meet Stephen Hawking. Definitely want to meet Stan Lee. I don't know who else...this isn't really something I've thought of before.
As for who I'd like to meet on MySpace, cool people, I guess. That'a vague answer, though. Let's say people who are into what I'm into, or people who are awesome. Or who are in awe of me. It happens.

Dust and Shadow: an Account of the Ripper Killings by Dr. John H. Watson, available everywhere April 28th....
"At long last, an author of rare talent combines a thorough, enthusiastic knowledge of the Sherlock Holmes canon with truly rigorous research into, and respect for, the Jack the Ripper killings. Where others have failed, Lyndsay Faye's extremely impressive debut novel succeeds, on every level, providing thrilling entertainment without blatant exploitation. It will instantly take a place of distinction among the best attempts of contemporary authors to continue the work of Arthur Conan Doyle, and is, quite simply, a must for Holmes fans and Ripperologists alike.
