  • Bio

Joe (melodeon), Mat (guitar), Kev (fiddle) and David (fiddle) met when they were all members of Folkestra, a 17-piece band run by Kathryn Tickell at the Sage Gateshead. After putting together a set of tunes to record on a Folkestra CD, they realised that they loved playing together and decided to enter the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award. Having won this competition in 2007, they have played at some of the country’s major folk festivals including Cambridge and Fairport Convention’s Cropredy festival. They are also establishing themselves as a popular folk club and ceilidh band. Their debut CD ‘Last Orders’ was released in 2007 to critical acclaim. To book Last Orders please contact Charles Devlin from Cromulent Music, email: cromulent.music@tiscali.co.uk, or visit the Cromulent Music website at www.cromulentmusic.co.uk. Last Orders: ‘they have a maturity of style that belies their youth - a sound that is greater than the sum of its parts and best of all a joy in sharing their music with others.' John Tams (Award Winning British Folk Artist); ‘an exceptionally mature and accomplished band, and their self-titled debut album is one of the top English folk recordings this year.’ Songlines World Music Magazine (December 2007)
