Music that is in Harmony with itself, so that no facet (voice, bass, instruments) dominates the others. Something that evokes an emotional response that is in tune with the moment. As with my interests above, music that tells a story in the way it is made most often appeals to my tastes. I have run the gambit from Classical to Electronica, industrial to New-wave.. Punk to Movie soundtracks.. as long as it has the above requirements then I will give it a listen. | | Movies | Actors have a great responsibility.. much more so then many of them realize. They are the tools from which a story is told, the building blocks from which a vicarious experience is constructed, and so if they do not possess the skills of thier craft.. how can we as an audience possibly share in that experience? The simple answer is that we cannot. That is why I detest the latest crop of pretty boy/girl actors (Paris Hilton is my personal torment at the present) , who have no skills but look good. There is a perfectly acceptable line of work for them, called modeling. Instead they line up and destroy movie after movie with thier tripe acting and horrifically executed delivery. Many are the stories which might have captivated and held interest were it not for the painfull experience of watching someone who's onstage presence was about as comforting as a proctological exam.
Movies that interest me, strike this carefull balance and have actors who's qualifications go beyond the fact that they look good, or can give a terrific blow job to whoever is in charge of casting. | | Television | (See movies above.) At present I am watching the new "Battlestar Galactica" and "Law and Order: Criminal Intent" | | Books | I'd like to say that I read tremendous dry and insightfull material solely for the joy of expanding my mind and becoming more cultured and intelectual, but I'd be lying. Truth be told I read alot of Pulp Fantasy and Sci-Fi because its fun and as I have stated before, there is nothing I love more then a good story. I occasionally dabble in the classics, but the focus on style.. as opposed to content tends to leave me a little unsatisfied. My current books include "Gaunt's Ghosts: Straight Silver" and "Execution Hour"
My reading "projects" include "Tools for Teaching" by Fred Jones, "The Idiot" by Dostoyevsky and "The Silmarillion" by J.R.R Tolkien | | Heroes | Currently... Johnny Cash. (Johnny was all about the music, as opposed to the image. Even in his later years he could still identify with the hardships of modern day Americans. In short, although I was never a huge fan of his music, I greatly respected the man, and in my humble opinion, he never really went out of style.) |

Inside each and every one of us, there is the capacity for achieving one's own maximum potential. As you grow in Wisdom, more and more of that potential is tapped and eventually you emerge from Plato's dark cave of ignorance into the light of enlightenment and understanding. What then? do we languish in the laurels of our own goals and achievements, or return to the dark and guide the way for those who still have no true understanding of the world. I think of myself as an artist and philosopher who is struggling with some of the base and fundamental truths of the human condition. In Faith, there is the belief that the great scale of justice will eventually be balanced, and so many of my family wait for the just rewards that supposedly exist beyond the veil of death. But, I will not wait quietly for the long night, nor will I spend one moment of life, preparing for the sleep of ages after my spirit has taken leave.
This is the world of the living, and as such we should not spend our lives in preparation for death, but enjoying life. Even now I try to savor each moment, enjoy each pleasure no matter how small. I am a flawed person, who does not seek perfection, just refinement in who they are. I seek to become better then I was, and thereby improve all facets of my life.
