About me: I'm whomever I decide to be at the moment, a chameleon wandering through an ever-shifting landscape of people, places, and events. That guy who everybody seems to know and who seems to know everybody, yet isn't really a part of anything.
I moved down to Chicago in September '06 with my wife, Vanessa, after living the previous 14 or so years up in the Twin Cities (Minneapolis/St. Paul).
I'm working running the audio visual department at the Chicago History Museum. You should definitely come check the place out. Chicago is a pretty fascinating city with a fantastic sense of itself. The museum was completely revamped just before I was hired (to the tune of a $30 million renovation). The new permanent exhibit, Crossroads of America, offers a pretty fascinating overview of the city including the very first 'L' car made for the Columbian Exposition (the 1893 World's Fair). My personal faves are the World's Fairs, amusement parks, and the music.
I used to perform up in Minnesota with Lolly Pop & the Couture Club. Our debut CD was re-issued on the Italian dance label, Modo Veloce. I sing back-ups on most of the tracks and have one song that I wrote and sing lead on. You should check it out, and buy the disc. (shameless self-promotion) Its just fun, poppy electro music with a touch of 80s kitsch. Oh, and there is also the Elevator Operator EP featuring an international collection of remixers.
Also, in the summer of '06 I worked with my wife on a short called Fear of Girls 2. It is the sequel, or second episode of the internet phenom short Fear of Girls which received over 2 million views the previous year. Due to contractual things and such episode 2 has been setting on the shelf for about a year, but it is now free and clear and ready to be seen by the world, so spread it around--
At first I was like Oh No! he made a rap song about his kitty and that shouldn't happen but then I realized that I have done exactly that. Also his dance moves look slightly familiar. But I'm not naming names...
It was great to see you guys! I did wind up finding Elana and was able to see the mouse in the wheel ignite!! I was cold though and stayed only another half hour. Well, I'll give you a ring if I'm able to get down there on Tues with the Armenian girl and if not...have a blast in MPLS and tell Nessa Happy Birthday!
