Foretold have recently parted company with vocalist, Andy Stennett and bassist, Nick Olorenshaw. We have a replacement bassist - Sam Austen who has now learnt all the songs and is now an official member of Foretold. We are still looking for a new vocalist who can scream and sing so if you fit that quota and live in Essex then get in touch!
Formed in February of 2004, Colchester based Foretold have set out with one common goal in mind: to produce music taking influences dating back from the early 80s right through to the present day. They fuse heavy riffs with melody, harmonies and dynamics to create music that sets an atmosphere as well as music that gets the crowd moving.
After recording the “Somewhere to Go EP” at Amber Sound and Light Studios in Chelmsford and getting a good response, Foretold went back there in December of 2004 to record the follow-up, “A Whole World Down.” Their decision to record live rather than layering the instruments has preserved the energy that you would find at a live gig, and also displays the tightness and technical abilities of the band as a whole.
The unique sound is helped by the fact that each member of Foretold comes from a different musical background and each of their particular tastes is present in some form in each song. Their sound has got them headlining gigs at the Twist in Colchester as well as a headlining gig at Stubbs Private Members Club.
The Band
Mike Hall (Guitar) Mike’s main influences come from the thrash and NWOBHM period, although his songwriting technique incorporates aspects of the newer heavy metal bands like Killswitch Engage and Chimaira. He plays Maverick guitars and uses Mesa amplification.
Will Hall (Guitar) Will plays a PRS Custom 24 guitar through a Marshall amplifier, and takes influences from thrash, grunge and hair metal. His main focus is on lead guitar although his contributions to the songwriting process bring an extra element of heaviness and are often the ones that are best received at gigs.
Daniel de Sousa (Drums) Dan involves himself heavily in the writing process, ensuring that songs flow well and have a dynamic range. Having originally been into softer music like RHCP and Incubus, he has adapted well to this new style and adds an element of funk to the groove of the songs.
Sam Austen (Bass) The newest member of Foretold, Sam has quickly learnt all the songs and has contributed to new material. He is at heart a punk but as a music student, is relishing the oppertunity to try something different and his manic punk style bass lines add even more depth to the newer songs.
