About me:

Started around 1976 by TATTOOIST MIKE BAKATY, FINELINE TATTOO N.Y.C operated 'underground' out of MIKE'S loft space at 295 BOWERY. In 1997 a 35 year ban on TATTOOING in the 5 borroughs of NEW YORK CITY was finally lifted, and TATTOOING could finally be practiced in the open once again. Given this turn of events MIKE, along with his son MEHAI who had joined him in the trade some years earlier, ventured to go public. In the winter/spring of 1997 they opened FINELINE TATTOO N.Y.C. in the form of a street shop.
