Blue Lightning

About me:

I am a Real-Life Superhero. I began as an activist Superhero, crusading against secondhand smoke in public places, but my efforts have expanded into the field of charity and patrolling as well. ¶SECONDHAND SMOKE KILLS! ¶I adopted the Blue Lightning persona to draw attention to the dangers of secondhand smoke and the need to eliminate it from public places, voluntarily or otherwise. The Michigan Legislature does not have the courage to do so. Most places of public accommodation in Michigan to not have the courage to do so. As a Superhero, my quest is to instill the same courage in others that I have myself. ¶Legislation would be unnecessary if business owners would voluntarily adopt smoke-free policies. Such policies would be unnecessary if people would realize the dangers of secondhand smoke and voluntarily refrain from smoking in public. Under my true identity, I have had modest success in persuading business owners to voluntarily make their businesses smoke-free. As a Superhero, I hope to take my quest directly to the public with the hope of educating people about the dangers of deliberately emitting poisonous fumes in public and convincing them that smoking is best done in private. ¶Although I started as strictly an activist Superhero, fate has led me to expand my mission to charity and patrol work. Not only was I successful in convincing a business owner to make her business smoke-free, but she asked me to help her in fund-raising efforts for breast cancer research. I have also been inspired by some of my fellow Superheroes to begin patrolling a recreational area near my Secret Superhero Lair. ¶My methods may be a bit different from other Real-Life Superheroes, but my goal is the same—to make the world a safer place.
