The Johnsons Big Band sends back soup when there's too little cilantro. Kills spiders for fun and profit. Licks the grooves on "Palace of Swords Reversed" and spits tiny fireballs. Corrupts minors with cheap wine and cigarettes. The Johnsons Big Band makes music that's at times subtle, at times epic. Scales the Cliffs of Moher one moment and plucks the wings off flies the next. Props welcoming, pouty, buxom broads against pinball machines to whisper drink orders in their ears. The Johnsons Big Band's musical seed is like dandelion, finding its able purchase in many lands (Chicago, NYC, Boston, Philthadelphia) and the ears of many fans (being culled as backing band to the likes of Jon Langford, Neal Pollack, and Sally Timms). The Johnsons Big Band, most of all, makes all kinds of promises. Every now and then, they keep 'em, and tears roll, mountains tumble, chainsaws make friends with trees.
