....This profile was edited with Thomas' myspace editor™ V2.5 To best explain who we are and to learn some of our history please read an article written about us several years ago. you are in our circle and don’t want to be bored to tears please scroll down to the entrees Starting with JZ…..THOSE ENTREES WILL BE DATED AND HOPEFULLY CURRENT Jon and Marsha Zazula are at it again THIS TIME IN NEW HOPE PA If one can remember the way it was in 1982 ,when the Zazula(Jonny and Marsha Z) had their record store in a small indoor weekend market in East Brunswick New Jersey they would not be surprised at their GREAT JONES WORLD store located in New Hope Pa. The Z’s record shop was wall to wall vinyl featuring the most interesting collection of records this side of the Atlantic ocean. If a record was available in the major record chains it would not be found in Rock n’ roll Heaven,the name given to the record store because in the beginning the Z’s only sold product from dead rockn’ rollers. With the death of Ozzy guitarist Randy Rhodes the store had taken on a whole new look. As the Z’s put it the store was “wall to wall metal”. People would travel as much as 500 miles to visit their store and business was hand over fist. Specializing not only in the rarest of metal imports but known for its never ending catalogue of everything from Angelwitch to records by Loudness from Japan Rockn’roll Heaven became a mecca for metal heads worldwide. The top 10 sellers were posted in the UK’s top metal mag Kerrrang” every two weeks and became the indicator for the record companies worldwide to see which bands were hot and without record deals in the states. One such band came into the store one day as Jon and Marsha were extremely busy in the shape of a cassette demo. The band was then considered an La. Band that had just moved to the bay area by the name of METALLICA. Within minutes of playing the demo in the store the Z’s stopped everything and ran to the nearest phone booth(this is before there were cellular phones) to call a name that was written on the tape that had a phone number. The person who answered knew the band well and had heard of Rockn’roll heaven . In the evening the phone rang at the Zazula’s house. It was the bands drummer Lars Ulrich. At that time Jon and Marsha were also promoting shows in the New Jersey New York area and had a run of shows coming to the area featuring the British metal band VENOM. Jon asked Lars to come to New Jersey with the band and he would give them a run of shows to break them on the east coast. From the tour dates came a relation between the Z’s and the band. They had played several shows and Jon got them on other dates with bands like Twisted Sister and The Rods. The next months were spent recording an album for what was top be the Zazula’s legendary record company MEGAFORCE RECORDS..The band had agreed not only to record on the new label but had agreed to a management agreement as well. This relation lasted several years and by the time Metallica and the Zazula’s parted company the groups name METALLICA was already a household word and the group had signed a record with ELEKTRA RECORDS. METALLICA was not the only band that was part of the MEGAFORCE RECORD COMPANY. In its 20 years on this earth with the Zazula’s at the healm it had become a hot bead for the Mertal movement that reshaped the music industry from 1983-2000. Some of the groups that had worked for years with the Zazula’s are ANTHRAX ,MINISTRY,ACE FREHLEY,OVERKILL ,SOD,TESTAMENT and KINGS X..In the year 2001 Jon and Marsha retired from the music business,even though they still work with Canadian act BIF NAKED, who is signed to Atlantic Records and opened up GREAT JONES WORLD in NEW HOPE PA. AS MENTIONED EARLIER THE STORE IS JUST LIKE Rockn’roll Heaven except that this time it is toys that make up the inventory.Just like the old record store there isn’t an inch of space on the walls. GREAT JONES WORLD is also renown for it’s mighty on-line business and ebay success. In New Hope one can find the latest KISSW collectibles, rare Monopoly games.LIVING DEAD DOLLS,HEAD KNOCKERS(TONS OF), BILLY DOLLS,DISNEYANA,COMIC BOOKS AND ALL SORTS OF RARE TREASURES THAT YOU WON’T SEE EVERYDAY, IF EVER. .You can find the Z’s there on the weekends taslking to folK about the latest in LIVING DEAD DOLLS or Pinhead from HELLRAISER JUST LIKE THE OLD DAYS WHEN THEY WOULD SPEND THEIR TIME TALKING TO PEOPLE ABOUT THE LATEST METAL OFFERINGS IN THE WORLD. THEY ROCK. .JZ-4/17/05 The store closed on July 31, 2004. The landlord asked us to go due to the fact that he had planned to put a restaurant in our location. We at first said no but we were then made an offer we couldn’t refuse and away we went. At that same time there were a lot of changes going on at the Zazula camp. We had decided to spend all our energies on the website and instead of carrying a wide array of collectibles we would put all our attention on building the best site and name in the world for collecting The Nightmare Before Christmas collectibles. Great Jones World still carries all those crazy items that were in the store. The only difference is that we are selling these items at cost or below.sort of like a massive blowout. We also decided to write the first official price guide and pictorial about collecting NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS. the book has been a huge undertaking containing a very comprehensive price guide and over 1000 pictures all in color. We expect to see the book on the shelves this Halloween. On the music front ,we are very involved with developing the careers of new artists BLUE SKY INVENTION…….their demo will be available soon. BSI is a singer songwriter band sounding like the band meets Clapton when they were young and scary. A sample of their music is available on myspace.
