"ZED YAGO are, in my twisted mind, shaping up to be one of the greatest German rock bands of all time!" (Derek Oliver, Kerrang Magazine)
ZED YAGO was formed back in 1986. Their intention was - and still is - to bring back lost fantasy to all mankind. The band performed very well on numerous tours and so their reputation became very well within just a few months.
In 1987 their first album " From over yonder " has been released and became record of the month in the German " Metal Hammer" magazine. The band sold more than 30,000 copies in Germany within one month and major labels quickly realised that there is a new band on the market not to be missed.
In 1988ZED YAGO signed up a major deal with BMG. Their second album " Pilgrimage " was recorded and entered the charts rapidly and kept good positions for a long time. The band produced a video in England with director Julian Doyle, who also did the movies " Time Bandits" and " Monty Phyton". This video had airplay in every established rockstation worldwide. " Pilgrimage " went up to No. 2 in the Japanese metal charts.
ZED YAGO went on tour as the support act for DEEP PURPLE and played the biggest venues hrough the whole country. Afterwards they toured as support for WASP through Great Britain. Back at home the band has been invited to play at the birthday party of the German Metalhammer in Dortmund, and so they did.
At the end of 1989 the band had some internal problems which finalised with the leaving of drummer Bubi and guitarist Gunnar, the line-up changed.
1990 Jutta left ZED YAGO and startet her own carrier. So the band took a time-out for a few years. Within that time, guitarist Jimmy met a Lady called Yvonne, who wanted to learn playing guitar. While giving lessons to Yvonne, Jimmy recognized that this Lady is also a brilliant singer! This fully unexpected discovery made him starting to write new songs again.
Back in 1997ZED YAGO started their fantastic re-birth. The band played a couple of shows on big festivals with MOTÖRHEAD and MANOWAR. In the same year bassist Tatch left the band. Jimmy and Yvonne wrote a huge number of exellent songs, always having a new ZED YAGO in their minds.
Then, at the end of 2002, the old record company SPV Steamhammer released the " Best of ZED YAGO " album. The band released there "Invisible Guide" CD in 2005 followed by their fabulous "20th Anniversary of ZED YAGO Live " album in 2006– a CD not to be missed in any serious CD collection.
2008- ZED YAGO played in Athens and Thessaloniki in Greece and start a charity event festival called "TRUST IN METAL".
