About me:

The Lost Weekend Video legend begins as many legends do, with people at work complaining about their jobs. Christy and Dave worked at a music management agency. One day Christy said, "I've always wanted a video rental store." Springing to action, Dave begins squirreling away 500 VHS tapes in his apartment. Eventually they acquire Adam, as well as another 2000 tapes, opening LWV in 1997. Since then they've expanded their archive to 50,000 mostly indispensable titles, mostly DVD, many of them rare or out-of-print. Lost Weekend Video's cultural asset to the community has been clinched over the years with an eclectic mix of cult and mainstream titles, TV on DVD, Documentaries and music. Through the years, Lost Weekend Video has provided a neighborhood hub, with a 45 jukebox on free play, vintage Defender video game, framed collection of vintage movie poster one-sheets, live music performances and acclaimed staff picks, including The City's most honored sections: "Double Feature Dare!" They've also supported teachers and students at every level of education, partnered with most Bay Area film festivals of note and have never gone out of their way to pick a fight with another San Francisco video store. Staffed mainly by artists, musicians, thinkers and minds, perhaps one day Lost Weekend's employees will have the next great epiphany, the dream will die and Christy, Dave and Adam can sell out to The Man. Until then, experience one of San Francisco's great independent video rental stores! The blogs are by Jeremy Wheat, unless otherwise specified. He does Google image searches for all the pics. If you claim an image as yours alone and don't want it displayed here, PM this account and the offending .jpg will be summarily removed. All we're trying to do is build a teeny community and say which DVDs are nice.

Who I'd like to meet:

Most People or Bands from the San Francisco Bay Area are accepted with grace and minus fuss. As are most anybody with an interest in film or television that at least borders on passionate. If you see yourself as falling outside of these margins, by all means, send us a personal message along with your friend request. Otherwise, we might assume you are just trying to build your personal/professional network without anything in mind beyond fattening ones "friend" count. That element seems a bit vulgar at times. Be cool! Be exclusive! Reach out!
