James Ingram, Michael Jackson, John Mayer, Queen, Jose Gonzales, Nick Drake, Tower Of Power, Prince, Dave Matthews Band and a bunch more. I love music, I’ll listen to and be influenced by pretty much anything, but I’m a sucker for great singers!
Sounds Like
It sounds like John Mayer meets James Blunt meets Robbie Williams and then put a little bit of folk in there
I first got into music when I was 4 years old. That’s when I started taking piano lessons, as well as singing in my grandmothers quire, we used to (and still do) perform almost every Christmas in a church where she lives. When I was ten I was admitted into a music school in Stockholm, Sweden where I live. This continued my classical training, singing in quires and learning classical music. At 13 my sister finally dragged me off to a dance studio near the school. That’s where I started to take classes, and loved it. It really changed my life, For the first time of my life I got to perform in front of larger crowds and it put me on such a high.
At 15 my life really got turned upside down, I joined a band called A*teens and during the next six years we got to tour most of the world and sell over 4 million albums worldwide (If you wanna check us out there is more information at www.a-teens.com ). It was amazing, we toured with *Nsync, Brittney Spears, worked with Alice Cooper and got to se most parts of the world.
To me personally this all happened very fast and changed my life in very many ways, but also taught me more important lessons about life than I ever thought I’d learn. The best decisions I made during this period was to stay in school and, no matter how hard it was, keep studying in order to finish High School. Anyhow after all the crazyness we finally decided that after six years we had to take a break, figure out what the four of us were gonna do with our lives. So I went into the studio and started college. I badly needed to get back to an ‘ordinary life’ and get my perspectives straight, the band success happened so fast that while it was happening I had no time to reflect or understand how amazing the whole experience was. It was great for me to get away from it all, I enjoyed just being one of the other students for a while and to have some spare time at home with my friends and family was great. It also gave me time to do other things like write music. It was something I longed for during the years in the band but never had time to pursue. While I was studying however I had more time on my hands and spent every free moment in the studio writing and producing.
That sort of brings us up to date. I’m just about to release some of my own stuff back home in Sweden. There is a chance I will do well and another chance I won’t. In some ways I have all the advantages of the world, experience and contacts and all that. In other ways I am way behind. The fact that I need to beat everyone’s expectations of what I am about to do and who I really am. I love the excitement of doing my own stuff for the first time, but I am also scared of what people are gonna think and if I will be able to convince them to give me a chance and hear me out.
Hey Amit, much appreciated for the add. I love your style of music! Its a very great mesh of sounds. I have a lot of respect for folk music! Thank you again! :)
