About me: I like to hang around in dark basements on Sunday nights at 1:00 am. My little hang-out sessions can be seen on MTV2.
Who I'd like to meet: Post your video request here and we'll play as many of them as we can in our 4/27 Viewer Request episode of Subterranean. Keep it new - you can go see all your favorite Pixies vids on VH1 Classic.
An album I'm really looking forward to, possibly more than you're looking forward to the new Bowie/Jagger single, is FLEET FOXES' ST debut out June 3. A mix of (yes) Fleetwood Mac and MMJ, they evoke Gladis Knight while simeltaneously kicking the Everly Brothers harmonic asses. I will love this band until the new Wilco comes out. Here are some crappy unofficial utube videos to whet your whistle. Pleasant weekends.
I'm having a terrible time of it these days. I took my autistic class to the zoo and they were fascinated by the robins. My ex-girlfriend is on the cover of my college quarterly magazine and she's looking really good. And starving children in China, blablabla. Anyway here's some videos that have kept me afloat in the jealous autistic humanitarian flood. Consider them a Friday night for the acid trippers in your office.
I just wanna say thank you so much for making my day and possibly my year by putting on one of the videos from my list. I felt like I was floating on air as my name came on and I turned my TV volume way UP to dance! thank you for fulfilling my and others requests. you rock on!
THE TRUE JOY of music is sharing it, thank you for helping us do that last night. I can only guess the hurdles in dredging the Figurines video from across the sea, it was appreciated greatly. I hope we the viewers can continue to throw some new videos your collective way, it really felt like a community coming together. Thanks again, you guys make dealing with middle schoolers bearable.
thank you thank you thank you so much for playing the bird and the bee on your request show....check em out if you like what you saw, or even if you didnt at www. myspace. com/thebirdandthebee
JUST A REMINDER, ANE BRUN: THE PUZZLE. I joined myspace to ask, and now, 6 times a day I have porno queens requesting to be my friend. Make it worth it, please. Do you have any idea how much willpower it takes to turn down porno queens? Great picks everyone!
hey peeps! just thought I'd put some last minute vids. you rock the house!
Switches: Lay down the Law Because people told me that this song sounded like my favorite band Franz Ferdinand, I had to listen to it, and it does, and its like sugar to me until I get some new franz tunes. lol
Kings of Leon: Charmer The song rocks and I think it was beautifully shot. with the great camera work, I can feel the shaky panic and frustration of that girl always looking at him.
THIS IS THE LAST ONE FROM ME. I know you guys have work to do, and only 12 or so videos to whittle it down to. So welcome to NOAH AND THE WHALE: UK band including Laura Marling (pure accident, she seems to be everywhere). They rage forth like the dopey step-brother's last hope for a prom-date, and in the end, they steal her heart away. Please ignore the Wes Anderson rip offs.
"2 Bodies 1 Heart"
"5 Years Time"
Thankyou for all the work you do, keep the bearable part of MTV alive.
Alright, here are my requests, in preferential order: Albert Hammond Jr. - In Transit It's a few months old, but I don't think you, or anyone else, ever played it, or ever will otherwise! It was directed by Joaquin Phoenix.
Santogold - L.E.S. Artistes ...because you'll probably play it soon anyway?
I wish I had something more obscure to request, but please consider the Hammond Jr. video! (I voted for his first video obsessively enough to get it on your best of 07 show) If you can't play either of those though, maybe Black Kids - Boyfriend video? They're from my hometown. Your faithful blogue reader, robotrocks
It must be the accent, because Hanne Hukkelberg is another Norweigen songstress I dote on. She's just now releasing both her albums in the U.S. "Cheater's Armoury" is from her most recent; Rykestrasse 68. I think this video illustrates the joys and the dangers of huffing pine sol before you go to work. But the slide guitar makes it all alright.
FIELDS. A band of triple-headed harmonies. I love them because of the grandiose feelings they inspire. Its a life lesson wrapped up in sonic goodness. You broke their first video a little while ago, it's only fair you follow it up.
WHITE RABBITS: Double Drummers=Amazing If you haven't seen them live, please do. All of their songs make you want to dance, this one is just more literal about it.
Clinic- Free not free Because: once upon a time you guys were all about some clinic (were'nt they guests on both 120 mins AND sub?) ALSO: the video is beautiful.
Field Music-In Context Because: I see this video and it makes me think of Subterannean!
Stephen Malkmus-Baby C'mon Because: You guys should have played this 3 years ago :)
EVER DREAM OF BEING A DANISH CANAL BARGEBOAT CAPTAIN? I thought so. Figurines: a soundtrack for your most devastating and prolonged Wednesday. Figurines: they make your toes go cold in a hot tub with Kim Gordon.
