About me: Gina Lollobrigida è una attrice ,scultrice e fotografa italiana.

Gina Lollobrigida (born on July 4, 1927) is an Italian actress who was born Luigina Lollobrigida in Subiaco, Italy in the Lazio region.
Lollobrigida is one of four daughters of a furniture manufacturer (her sisters are Guiliana, Maria and Fernanda). She spent her youth in a picturesque mountain village. In her youth, Gina did some modeling, and from there she went to participate successfully in several beauty contests. At around this time, she began appearing in Italian language films. In 1947, Gina entered the Miss Italy pageant and came in 3rd place. The contest was won by Lucia Bosé and second place was Gianna Maria Canale - they would both go on to be actresses though neither would come near Lollobrigida's success.
It is rumoured that after seeing her in a film, eccentric millionaire mogul Howard Hughes had her flown to Hollywood in 1947 though if this happened, it did not result in her staying in America. Instead she stayed in Italy and in 1949 she married a Yugoslavian physician, Milko Skofic. (They had one son, Milko Skofic jr, and were divorced in 1971). Her appearance in Italian films brought her to the attention of Hollywood and she made her first American film, Beat the Devil, in 1953. As her popularity increased, Lollobrigida earned the nickname "The World's Most Beautiful Woman" after her signature 1955 movie.
She made another notable appearance in Trapeze with Burt Lancaster in 1956 and starred in The Hunchback of Notre Dame the same year. In 1959 she co-starred in Frank Sinatra's Never So Few (she is rumoured to have had an affair with Sinatra) and in 1961 made one of her most popular films, Come September, with Rock Hudson. She co-starred with him again in 1965's Strange Bedfellows and appeared alongside Alec Guinness in 1966's Hotel Paradiso. In 1968 she starred in the enjoyable Bueno Sera, Mrs Campbell with Shelley Winters, Phil Silvers and Telly Savalas. By the 1970s her film career was wound-down and she appeared in only a few, fairly poorly received productions in the early part of the decade.
By this time she had embarked on what was to turn out to be a successful career as a photographic journalist. She photographed, among others, Paul Newman, Salvador Dali and the German national football team and scooped the world's press by obtaining an exclusive interview with Fidel Castro. In 1973 a collection of her work was published, Italia Mia. Still focusing on other interests, including sculpting, it was 1984 before she returned to American television screens with a part in Falcon Crest. She made a few minor film appearances in the 1990s and in1999 she ran unsuccessfully for one of Italy's 87 seats in the elections for European Parliament. She was also a corporate executive for fashion and cosmetics companies.
Now virtually retired from acting, she has not made a film since 1997, she told Parade magazine in April 2000: "I studied painting and sculpting at school and became an actress by mistake .... I've had many lovers and still have romances. I am very spoiled. All my life, I've had too many admirers."
In October, 2006, at age 79, she got engaged to Javier Rigau y Rafols, age 45. They met at a party in 1984 and the two have since been dating.

On Memorial Day~ Please take a few minutes to give thought to remembering those who protect the liberties that you cherish. No matter where you are from, or what your politics are, do take just a moment to thank those who have sacrificed for you and yours~ A Dark and Peaceful Night to you~
Calendar blue moons occur infrequently, and the saying once in a blue moon is used to describe a rare event. However, they are inevitable because of the mis-match between the solar and lunar cycles. Each calendar year contains twelve full lunar cycles, plus about eleven days to spare. The extra days accumulate, so that while most years contain twelve full moons to match the twelve months, every two or three years there is a year with thirteen full moons. On average, this happens once every 2.72 years.
When there are thirteen moons in a year, twelve of them are given the twelve traditional names associated with that time of year (the names vary from culture to culture), and the extra one is termed a blue moon. Which of the thirteen moons is termed 'blue' depends on whether it is calculated by the old or the new method.
The months of the Gregorian calendar are all very close to the 29.5306-day period of the moon's phases: the synodic month, or lunation. Most of the months are longer than this by one or two days, except February, which is the only month which cannot contain a calendar blue moon. Since February is one or two days shorter than the moon's cycle, very occasionally it has no full moon – there is a full moon at the end of January, and the next one is at the beginning of March. What this means is that both January and March will have blue moons. This happens, on average, once every thirty-five years.
The next two calendar blue moons (based on UTC) will be on June 30, 2007 (but May 31, 2007 in the Western Hemisphere, and December 31, 2009. Because February, according to UTC, will have no full moon in 2018, January and March will each have a calendar blue moon that year.~Wilkipedia~ Blue Moon ~ Gaze at the Moo

Thank You for your friendship. Do visit again soon won't you? ~Have a most enchanting evening~.
She walks in beauty, like the night
Of cloudless climes and starry skies;
And all that's best of dark and bright
Meet in her aspect and her eyes:
Thus mellowed to that tender light
Which heaven to gaudy day denies.
One shade the more, one ray the less,
Had half impaired the nameless grace
Which waves in every raven tress,
Or softly lightens o'er her face;
Where thoughts serenely sweet express
How pure, how dear their dwelling place.
And on that cheek, and o'er that brow,
So soft, so calm, yet eloquent,
The smiles that win, the tints that glow,
But tell of days in goodness spent,
A mind at peace with all below,
A heart whose love is innocent!
Lord Byron
~Enjoy the Beautiful daydreams of Summer my Friend~
The evening of June 23, St. John's Eve, is the eve of celebration before the Feast Day of St. John the Baptist. The Feast of St. John coincides with the summer solstice or Midsummer in the northern hemisphere, which Pagan traditions celebrate on June 21st. The Christian holy day is fixed at June 24, but, in the old way, festivities are celebrated the night before, on St. John's Eve.
St. John's Eve (or Bonfire Night) is celebrated in many parts of rural Ireland with the lighting of bonfires. This ancient custom has its roots in pre-Christian Irish society when the Celts honoured the Goddess Áine, the Celtic equivalent of Venus and Aphrodite.
Historically, this date has been venerated in the practice of Voodoo. The famous Voodoo priestess Marie Laveau was said to have held ceremonies involving Voodoo ritual on the Bayou St. John in New Orleans, commemorating St. John's Eve annually. Modern day practitioners of Voodoo have kept the traditions alive.
~ Wishing you a wonderful Midsummer Night and St John's Eve!~
Triskaidekaphobia (from greek tris=three, kai=and, deka=ten) is a fear of the number 13. It is usually considered to be a superstition. A specific fear of Friday the 13th is called paraskavedekatriaphobia or friggatriskaidekaphobia.
• The arrest and murder of the Knights Templar occurred on Friday October 13, 1307. This event is incorrectly said to be the origin of the supposed unluckiness of Friday the 13th.
• In the US, many tall buildings do not have a floor numbered "13" (see picture at left for an example).
• On some passenger aircraft there is no seating row numbered "13" (see picture at right for an example).
• In Formula One and many other racing categories, no vehicle carries the number 13.
~ GOOD FORTUNE TO YOU MY FRIEND, HAPPY FRIDAY THE 13TH~
I'm taking advantage of this opportunity to wish you a happy birthday . . .
. . and to invite you to visit my profile, where you'll find the eluciation for my proposed design for a 9/11 memorial, graphic of which is just below . . .
likely enough, detail A looks familiar . . . well, it should . . . it was lifted from a royalty-free photo of the moon . . .
. . . . . . isn't it strange . . every time I look at my design, I hear the melody to MOON RIVER . . .
oh, yeah, the elucidation is found in my blog entry, titled "the way human nature works" . . .
. . . incidentally, I'm told it's "wicked satire" . . . truth be told, I don't feel all that flattered . . . after all, as said on Broadway, satire is what closes Thursday night
. . . by the bye, I'm told a reader's letter of mine to a regional newspaper of record has inspired a couple tune smiths to compose music and lyrics for a DESTINY DAY anthem . . .
