.... .... Based in San Rafael, CA, 'Til Dawn is a 14 piece a'Cappella group made up of teens from different high schools around Marin. We perform at a variety of elementary schools, public events, private parties, and business functions in and around the bay area. We love to sing, performing on average 40-50 times a year. .. .. 'Til Dawn released their first CD in 1995 entitled "Get Motivated Baby" and their second, "In Toon", in 2000 which won runner up for Best High School A Cappella Recording from the Contemporary A Cappella Recording Awards (CARA). Their latest CD, "Songs in the Key of AWESOME" (2004) won two CARA awards, one for Best National High School Album and the second for Best National High School Song. .. .. 'Til Dawn's most recent awards include first place honors at the California State Championship of High School A Cappella (NCHSA) where they also won "Best Solo", "Best Showmanship" and "Best Vocal Percussion". .. .. Their parent organization, Youth in Arts, provides students with experiences and instruction in the visual and performing arts, and enriches the community with cultural events. .. .. Sometimes, the best way to get a feel for a group's dynamic is to catch a glimpse of who the members become when they're alone together. With a performing group, it can be hard to tell whether the smiles stay or change once the audience has gone: whether the fun itself is part of the performance. New members, though, figure out every year that there's something different about 'Til Dawn. Somewhere between the retreats, the practices, and the performances we do together, there comes a moment for every 'Til Dawner where the stage changes from the goal of our work to another place where we have fun together. The smiles we show on stage aren't produced or forced; they're spilling over from backstage and from laughs that began in the first moments of our year together. We look like a co-ed a cappella group. We feel like friends who happen to sing together. Look through our pictures, listen to our music: when you love what you do, something amazing happens. Without that love, no one can make the jump from good to great.
