.. Known throughout Australia as the lead guitarist for Wes Pudsey and the Sonic Aces, Robert Taylor is one of the most proficient roots guitarists of the current age... .. Playing guitar from age of 8 and gigging since 12, Robert has honed his musical talent drawing on the influences of Chet Atkins, Merle Travis, Danny Gatton, Scotty Moore, Django Reinhardt, T-Bone Walker and pretty much anyone else who's held a guitar... .. Coming from a 1980's alternative scene influence, Robert began his adult music career with The Very Righteous Brothers in 1989, which featured performances with New Zealand's acclaimed Straightjacket Fits. Robert then drew on his 1960's influences to form Tickets for the Titanic and then progressing to the Sunny Boys influenced combo The Crackstiens, co-writing most of their tunes... .. By the early 1990's, Robert uncovered the key to finger style guitar playing and became a self professed 'Chet-o-phile' and used this new found knowledge to hone his Rockabilly technique. Forming the band Dixie Rumble with co-founder Phil Tott, Robert made his first appearance on Sydney's Rockabilly scene. Since then he has never looked back... .. In 1997 Robert filled in with Wes Pudsey and The Sonic Aces and finally joined the band in 1998 setting the seeds for what has become the now classic Wes Pudsey/Robert Taylor writing combination... .. Roberts side line projects include being a founding member of The Hollywood Hombres as well as Venus and the Flytraps (featuring Pia Andersen)... .. With a style that crosses through Rockabilly, Jump Blues and Country, Robert has been Sydney's premier "On Call" Roots Guitarist, filling in for bands such as; The Creepers, Blue Denim and Andy and the Cruisers as well as making many guest appearances with the Radium Club Hepsters... ..
