A space for creativity to breathe.
A space for folk, jazz, classical, blues, gypsy and trad musicians to stretch and have fun with an intimate audience.
A space that promotes the magic of live music
Every Friday and Saturday at 9p.m., upstairs in Meades Wine Bar, 126 Oliver Plunkett Street, Cork Throughout 2008, every Friday and Saturday night, MUSIC SPACE 126 will take place in a beautiful Georgian room overlooking Oliver Plunkett Street. It has wooden floors, original mouldings, high ceiling and functioning fireplace. This space will cater for artists such as; singer songwriters, alternative/folk, jazz combos, Quartets, trad musicians, who want to play on the popular weekend nights without the pressure of having to pack out a large venue. The room is compact. Tables and chairs for a maximum of 30 people will be arranged around the musician. The size of the audience will be restricted to allow for comfort and intimacy. As we will be running this gig twice weekly it will be possible for acts to play at least a couple of times a week or month (decision to be made in conjunction with the promoter), thereby making it more financially attractive. This venue is very special, exudes charm and, as it is above a wine bar, will make for a very different experience for the artist and audience alike. Also because of the size of the room (7m X 8m) an acoustic gig is more than feasible. 1. MUSIC SPACE 126 is not designed to replace any regular gig venue. We will be promoting this venue as a “third space”, an alternative space for artists to play as well as a unique event for punters to go to on a Friday and Saturday night. 2. We hope that this space will be a fruitful addition to an artist’s gig itinerary giving them the opportunity to generate a small but semi-regular income, the opportunity to try out new material, win new fans, and above all, provide a platform to sell their CDs and their music. 3. In keeping with the spirit of the venue, we would encourage artists to experiment, develop and, above all, have fun with their music in a dedicated space. All performers are invited to have a look at the space before they play and, if they want, think about how they might create a sense of themselves in the space for their gig and to add to the unique qualities of the room.
Hey, is it true that you won't be having any more gigs? Need to update corkgigs. com if not. Hopefully you'll be back on track soon, was looking forward to seeing Colin McLean.
