It’s been a bumpy year so far and I would like to update you a little. Unfortunately my band After Forever stopped and that mend the start of a new period. Looking back I realize how many great and amazing things I got to do and that inspires me to go full speed ahead with new music. Hereby an update and a more complete biography! ..

First my update about what I do today and what my plans for the future are:

After the final stop I started missing the metal scene and it’s music and decided I wanted to come back ASAP with a new metalband. To accomplish this I want to work with other songwriters to first write and record an album. A live band will be formed after that to get me back on stage where I long to be so much!

When Waldemar Sorychta (Grip Inc, Enemies Of The Sun, ao) contacted me; the first composer was found. As a fan of Grip Inc the idea of working together was a big honor and a first step in creating a sound! The combination of Waldemar’s unique style and experience as songwriter/producer made my dream come closer to reality. I also asked my After Forever colleague Joost van den Broek for his great synth sounds and arrangements. Despite his busy schedule he wanted to come on board immediately with great enthusiasm and the songwriting team was complete!

The sound will become a unique blend of the personal style we know these musicians from, but not yet together in one album which is to become heavy and very metal!

The songwriting has just begun! Who will join this team in the future is not known yet nor which label will release the album. All we can say for now; next year there will be new band and a new album!

I will keep updating you and I promise to give you a preview as soon as possible!!!

The high school musical made me aware I could sing and that loved being on stage. Ever since that moment back in 1995 (or so ☺ ) I knew music would become my passion in life. In 1997 I joined a melodic metal band named After Forever. The band became more successful then I ever could have dreamed of and music became more then a hobby. I acquired most of my experience as a performer, songwriter and singer working with this band. Next to that I studied music and have been a guest vocalist on several albums and live shows.

In 1999 I started studying on the Rock Academy (like a conservatory for rock and pop music) While studying I learned more about the music industry, singing, performing and teaching. During the third year I started taking vocal lessons at the conservatory. My goal was to learn how to sing in various music and vocal styles; not rock & pop alone but also classical and any other style for that matter.

In the meantime After Forever became a bigger and better known band. In 2000 we released the first album ‘Prison of Desire’. At that time nobody had ever heard of the band yet but that soon changed after this release. The second album ‘Decipher’ made the band grow even more. This album was released in 2001 and After Forever started to become a well-known band on many stages and festivals, nationally as well as internationally.

In 2003 the mini album ‘Exordium’ was released, soon followed by the third full length album ‘Invisible Circles’ in 2004. In the same year I also graduated on the Rock Academy and continued studying (part-time) at the conservatory in Tilburg on music theatre and opera.

I also started to teach more: individual lessons, courses and workshops for singing, performing and lyric- and songwriting.

In 2005 the album ‘Remagine’ came out. After this release After Forever signed a new deal with Nuclear Blast and the Dutch team ‘The Entertainment Group’. With this brand new team we released our self-titled album ‘After Forever’ in 2007.

To make this short story more complete I made a list with events per year. Below that there is some more random info on all kinds of topics. I get many questions about many things and I tried to give answers in this part ☺ to give you a even more complete picture about me.

1995:

• Highschool musical (Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat)

• I started to play guitar and write songs. I also joined the schoolband :-)

1997:

• I joined After Forever, initially as background vocalist.

1999:

• After Forever recorded a demo that was picked up by several labels. We signed with Transmission Records and started recording our first album.

• I started studying at the Rock Academy

2000:

• Release of ‘Prison of Desire’

• Guest vocals on Ayreon’s album ‘Universal Migrator’

• First festivals and many clubshows in Europe

2001:

• Release ‘Decipher’

• European shows plus show at one of Hollands biggest festivals ‘Lowlands

• First trip to Mexico

2002:

• Show at one of Holland’s biggest festivals ‘Pinkpop

• On tour with Nightwish

• Guestvocals on Arjen Lucassen’ ‘Star One’ album

2003:

• Release of the mini album ‘Exordium’

• After Forever joins Nightwish on their European tour

• Guestvocals on the live tour from Arjen Lucassens Star One

• Guestvocals on Bertus Borgers album ‘Z.G.A.N’

• I started teaching

2004:

• Release of our third full-length album ‘Invisible Circles

• Special concept shows plus second time at ‘Pinkpop’

• My graduation on the Rock Academy

• I won a talent price that provided the possibility to continue my vocal study

• I got accepted on the Music Theatre (part of the conservatory)

2005:

• Release fourth full-length album ‘Remagine’

• first South American tour

2006:

• Second South American tour with amazing shows at the ‘Live and Louder’ festivals

• I started studying opera after one year of Music Theatre (more musical oriented) Due to the busy schedule with After Forever this was part-time and only for that year.

2007:

• Release fifth and for now last full-length album ‘After Forever’

• Many great tours, shows and festivals like the second time at ‘Lowlands’

• Guest vocals on the special show ‘Games in Concert’

2008:

• After Forever takes a ‘sabbatical’ due to the severe burn-out of guitarist/songwriter Sander Gommans.

• Start of side project in rock music with Norwegian guitarist Jorn Viggo Lofstad (called Sinh)

• Guestvocals on Ayreon’s new album ‘01011001’

• Guestvocals at the ‘Games in Concert’ show

• Guesvocals at special show ‘Lowlands’

• Guestvocals at Doro’s single ‘Celebrate’ plus at her 25th anniversary show

• Guestvocals at ‘Christmas Metal Symphony’/p>

2009:

• Break of After Forever ☹

• Start of new metal band (read the update ;-)

• Rock project ‘Sinh’ is put on hold to give the new metalband full priority.

Shorts facts on a row:

1. Floor is a soprano and has a 4 octaves reach when she sings.

2. Floor got to know many vocal techniques during her studies but she recently got in touch with the ‘Complete Vocal Training’ from the Danish Catherine Sadolin. This method really appealed to her and she is now using this to enrich her lessons.

3. Floor wrote all lyrics for After Forever (but a few on the first two records) But next to lyric writing she also made all the vocal melodies (also for the choirs and the grunt parts) She also writes her own music and got to get better in composing during the writing process of the first album for the project Sinh. She gets to continue ‘practicing’ while writing music for her new metal band!

Floor Facts in random order ☺:

• Floor loves dogs, in particular her own French bulldog named Obi.

• She’s a true Dutch girl being 1.81 m tall ☺

• She likes to work out and tries to go to the gym 2 or 3 times a week.

• She also likes beers and good wines and recently discovered the pleasure of a good glass of whisky.

• Floor likes movies and some occasional TV watching but if the time allows it she’ll read books.

• She’s a traveler and would like to see more of the world.

• She’s the oldest of 2 daughters, she has one younger sister named Irene (so no; Mark Jansen is not related to me ☺)

• She has moved 11 times in the 28 years on this planet.

• She still considers singing the ultimate stress-relieve, she enjoys singing as a hobby as much as she does for her profession.

• Floor plays flute. She can also play piano and guitar and knows where to put her fingers on a bass guitar.
