    DJKangal's Interests
GeneralWhy narrow interest down to a specific category? With true perception, anything can be interesting if seen in the right light, or at the right angle, or with a high-powered telescope floating in space. I'm a child at heart, and I pride myself on never having lost my sense of childlike wonder. So let's just say "I'm interested" and apply that at will.

BooksI believe everybody should read two things:
  • "The Truth Machine" by James L. Halperin
  • Everything Douglas Adams has ever written.

  • Beyond that, just READ.
HeroesI don't really believe in the concept of a Hero. I think the concept of heroism is flawed, in that we tend to acknowledge the Hero or Heroine in and of themselves, when it is in fact the deeds and accomplishments that are worthy of devotion and admiration. Credit where credit is due, of course: I can admire anyone who does great and noble things, but I am uncomfortable having a "Hero". In the end, it seems a bit too much like a way to relieve oneself of the burden of trying to accomplish great things on your own.

       DJKangal's Blurbs
    About me:
I'm a geeky white guy in my late 30's. I wear a lot of T-shirts and tattoos. I'm an Editorial Assistant/Librarian for a living, a DJ for a passion and a part-time contractor for some extra knowledge and cash. I read books, I ride a bike, I DJ parties, I'm into fitness and I'm online constantly.
That's the basics. But at times like this, people often see only what they want to. So by all means, let your imagination run wild.
    Or, you know, ask me.
    Who I'd like to meet:
My policy on meeting people: If you can put up with me for longer than an hour or so, and the feeling is mutual, great, let's be friends. I have pretty simple ideas about what constitutes trust and close friendship, specifically that neither should be given lightly and need to be earned. I tend to get labelled a "loner" or "difficult" as a result. So be it. It works for me.

If that's too vague, well then, let me be quite specific about who I do not want to meet:

  • I'm happily taken, it's monogamous, and you aren't going to be the one to change my mind. Flattered but not interested.
  • I despise anonymity. If you are not willing to tell me your real name, and use real photos of yourself, don't bother me. Nicknames are fine, but I have never used one and I don't like people who are unwilling to use anything else. Some people believe anonymity is part and parcel of the Internet. I don't. Be honest.
  • I don't care who or what you hate, and I don't care who or what you want me to hate. I believe in a permissive society, and freedom of expression, but I also believe in MY right to not want to hear about it if I so desire. "In Your Face", to me, mostly means "Low Self-Esteem", and that's sad. Be proud of what you are, but assume I am too, even if it's different. There is a fine line between "sharing" and "forcing", I won't cross it if you don't.
  • In the end, the best way to have a question answered is to ask. So I guess that means I want to meet you, at the very least.

i'm spreading love and ass bitings across the intarweb so i shall share a fond memory of you:
I remember back in Catacomb, shortly after Douglas Adams passed, you played Din_fiv's "We Are" in his memory. I found it quite fitting as he meant alot to me as well.
