About me:
Hi,
My name is Debbie Whitehead, and I am a PhD student at Brunel University. I recently asked My Space users if they could help me with my research, on the subject of being bullied by an adult, during childhood.
Unfortunately I'm now coming to the end of my project, so will no longer be requiring volunteers.
Thank you so much to everyone who did make contact, and who were so open in telling me about their experiences.
You're help was greatly appreciated.
Who I'd like to meet:
I'm searching for people who were bullied in childhood, by an adult who worked with/cared for them. E.g: a teacher, welfare worker, religious or sports club leader, etc., and feel able to talk about their experience, in confidence, with me.
There will be no need to meet face to face. Just one telephone call is all that is needed, and the information provided would be used anonymously (including all names and places). I realise that this is a sensitive and controversial subject, and I have received the necessary ethical clearance from my university.
If you have been through this experience I hope that you can help - your contribution will make a difference, no matter how much or little you feel able to say.
I really believe that we can learn best about what happens, how it feels, and the effect it can have from the perspective of those individuals who have actually experienced this (no matter how long ago). And crucially, fellow sufferers will be able to learn that they are not alone.
If you (or anyone else you know who has been through this)are 18 or over, live in the UK, and would be willing to discuss your experiences please e-mail me:
