My biggest interest in all the world is music. I love to listen to music (as you could probably tell from my music listing below) and I love to play music. I guess I like a little bit of most kinds of music. My typical musical preference is sad bastard music, but lately I've been getting into some country stuff (sad country stuff) and some really fun dance stuff. I've been listing to groups like The Faint, Annie, Royksopp, Saint Etienne, The Knife etc etc a lot lately.
And like I said I also love to play music. I play drums in a band here in Portland called The Online Romance. We're a really great chamber pop band with some truly fantastic harmonies. I also have a project that I work on by myself. I guess I call it Ghost Sounds, and there's a link to some of my music under that name in my friends list or you can just go here

It's all sad bastard kind of stuff with folk tinges. I got a banjo nearly a year ago, so I try to put a lot of it into the music I write...maybe it's overboard, but I like how it sounds. If you listen and have any suggestions aside from "this sucks" I would love to hear them. Right now all my Ghost Sounds stuff has just been for fun, but I'm hoping that eventually I might be able to release some of it on my own around Portland...but we'll see.

Movies
I haven't seen any new movies that really blew me away lately. I saw Lars and the Real Girl a while back and (to my surprise) really enjoyed it. And for some reason I've watched Shaun of the Dead a number of times over the last few weeks; but it's a great movie so it's ok.
Television
I just moved about a month ago and I don't have cable anymore; so my television time has dropped significantly. Now I am watching a few shows on DVD. House. Curb Your Enthusiasm. Arrested Development. And I am about to finish watching The Full Metal Alchemist; which I'm really, really enjoying. I think I might watch Bleach next.
Books
I just finished reading I Am Legend (along with a million other people I'm sure). I really enjoyed the book. It had a really interesting way of using vampires. The movie was pretty good; but the book was more interesting. I read Dante's Inferno a few years ago; but didn't go on to the other two books. So, I think I might read Purgatorio now.
Heroes
I'd say my heroes are the Saddle Creek folks. They all started playing music together and decided that they can put it out on their own. I think that's pretty great, especially considering how well they have done while being able to stay a completely independent self-run label. Super cool! Also Mark Linkous (pictured above) who is Sparklehorse. That guy is one of the most talented musicians ever...I really mean ever too.
