12 Tónar is a fast growing independent label and a legendary record shop in the heart of Reykjavík and now Copenhagen.
Founded 8 years ago in Reykjavík, 12 Tónar has been well received by music lovers from the start. The store quickly became a meeting point for the hottest musicians around, for instance Björk, Sigur Rós, múm, and the core of classical composers and performers.
Today 12 Tónar is known as a friendly place where you are able to sit down, listen to our wide selection of music which is to be found on two floors, enjoy free espresso coffee or tea, read magazines and relax. We aim to continue our traditions in Copenhagen where we just opened up a 12 Tónar shop in the center of the city.
12 Tónar is a distributor for Icelandic music and an importer and distributor for many foreign record labels. Music lovers will quickly discover that we offer a wide variety of music styles and of course we carry all the best music from Iceland. And if you drop by, make sure not to miss our selection of extremely hard to get Icelandic home made recordings. If you're an independent artist and have a CD, don't be afraid to drop by with it - we'll gladly put it up in our shelfs.
We take great pride in the fact that 12 Tónar is also a fast growing independent record label. Our position as a record label is unique as we regularly meet with so many musicians in our shop. We are therefore in constant contact with emerging talent and the label is taking off very rapidly. We believe that our catalogue will include the most interesting artists Iceland has to offer, for now and for future references.
Fridays are very special days in 12 Tónar because there is always live music in the store every other Friday so the curious traveler can experience the hottest sounds in town live. The concerts start at five oclock and we usually offer our guests something special to drink during concerts, something nice to end the day or start the night with.

Föstudaginn 11. apríl fer fram gjörningadagskrá í Kling og bang gallery hverfisgötu 42. Listamennirnir Ásmundur Ásmundsson, Auxpan, Hannes Lárusson, Hulda Vilhjálmsdóttir, Ingibjörg Magnadóttir, Ólöf Björnsdóttir, Monika Frycova, Sigtryggur Berg Sigmarsson og Snorri Ásmundsson verða öll með gjörning í sitt hvoru lagi að sitt hvoru tagi. Kynnir verður heimsborgarinn, lífskúnstnerinn og listunnandinn Ármann Reynisson. Listamennirnir eiga það sameiginlegt að hafa notað gjörninga í listsköpun sinni. Ármann mun einnig vera með einkunargjafir eftir hvern gjörning í anda Idol mótarraðarinnar sem fræg er orðin. Landsmenn eru kvattir til að fjölmenna í Kling og bang gallery og horfa á og njóta gjörninga af ýmsum gerðum og gæðum. Athugið aðeins þessi eina sýning. Dagskráin hefst klukkan 1700.
