I work hard to make sure my friends come to visit me, and my friends are some of the best songwriters in the US and Canada. Stop by and see one of our shows and you'll see why people keep coming back for heaping helpings of good songs and good picking. See you soon - David Glaser
12 Voices is a Songwriter Series hosted by musician/music lover David Glaser (that's me). The host venue for the series is 49 West Coffee and Wine Bar, 49 West St, Annapolis MD 21401.
We host shows on the 2nd monday of every month, 12 each year - hence the name of the series: 12 Voices.
Our mission is to provide a safe warm stage for the night to travelling songsmiths, and to share our songs and stories with folks in the Annapolis/DC/Baltimore area who love great acoustic music.
The idea for the series came from meeting so many great songwriters at events such as Kerrville Folk Festival, and the Folk Alliance conferences. There is SO much amazing talent out there, under the radar, and I wanted to bring some of these intrepid touring songwriters to Annapolis - 12 Voices allows me to do just that. I also appreciate the great depth of talent we have in our own backyard, so I often invite local songwriters to do short "cameo" appearances. In the tradition of Kerrville's campfires, the last set of every show is done as a Song Circle with me and the visiting Artists playing together and sharing songs. These final sets are always spontaneous and creative, and by design, "one of a kind". The magical musical moments that happen here may never be seen anywhere else!
Ticket price is very reasonable (currently $12), and all funds collected go directly to the performers - not a penny goes to the venue. So, come on out and enjoy a light meal or dessert, have a great cup of coffee, or a cocktail from the full bar at 49 West, and enjoy some wonderful songwriters doing what they do best.
If you're curious about the flow of the evening's events, it usually goes something like this: I host and open each show with a short set, then I present the cameo and featured Artists. There is a short break in the middle for "meet and greet" and CD buying, then the Song Circle finale. The whole thing lasts 2 hours or so, and we'll have you home in time for the 11:00 news. IMPORTANT: The back room at 49 West only holds about 40 - 45 people, so these shows often sell out! Make sure you get your reservations in as early as possible! (call 410-626-9796)
