Sally Nyundo is one Malawi's leading reggae artists. Serious-minded without being scary, Sally has led the revolution from the front, releasing four major albums since he broke onto the Malawian musical scene as a member of the ghetto-based Imagez Band in 1995. Born in the spawling ghetto on Ndirande in Malawi's commercial capital Blantyre, Sally has come to define Malawian reggae, occassionally breaking from the serious reggae messages to talk about other light hearted issues as in Kukuchedwa Kucha and Ras Amadya Nzimbe but never compromising on his traditionally infuded reggae beat that has won his acclaim. Sally has been invited to the Reunion Islands where he shared the stage with Israel Vibrations. He says of himself. "I am serious minded with simple countenance, a living musical archive, instrumental and vocal in composition. I am talented, have visible courage and strength of a potential cultural revolutionist. Music is my life and making music is part of me. I am experimental, trying new things, and learning from different cultures of the world. I am an interesting person." He concludes: "Communicating with people is what teaches me of their land, people and things I have ever knew. That’s me."
