Orkestar Baxtalo is a troop of luxury bums, originals and virtuosos who stubbornly insist on the need for acoustic hillbilly music, even in the 21st century. They play savagely and convincingly and never shy away from the dream of an everlasting gypsy party full of dancing and romancing. Orkestar Baxtalo was formed in 2008 and has since then toured almost all of Europe as well as played countless gigs and weddings in Denmark. The Orchestra takes as its point of reference the Romanian folklore/gypsy style made famous by bands like Taraf de Haidouks and Fanfare Ciocarlia. The emphasis is on detail and atmosphere – with a musicality and temperament rarely heard in our latitudes. The instrumentation of the Orchestra: Saxophone/song, accordion, (cymbalom???), double bass, and guitar create a magical and energetic sound guaranteed to tempt people onto the dance floor and the liqour out of the bottle. Orkestar Baxtalo is currently working on a new vinyl release expected to be available in the summer of 2011 – featuring among other things music recorded on a horse-drawn carriage...
