Movies
My personal favorites are any movies starring me (they are both on the right-hand side of this page.)
Books
I try hard to make time to read. And I hate to be biased, but when you're on the cover of some, they tend to be your favorites! Please forgive me for the following shameless plug: I've helped develop books for nursing students and nurses to help them cope with their stress. You can check them out at my site, www.stressedoutnurses.com. I'm going to be working on several more in the future, too, so keep an eye out! Other books I like are ones written by John Irving. I think "The Cider House Rules" is a great book, so yes, I do have a serious side.
I bet you're wondering about me, aren't you? Who is this person with the pointy hair, buckled knees, and free-swinging clipboard?
I was born in Orlando, where I managed to survive the heat (and looking back, some Disney characters) for a few years. Then I moved to Texas (loved it!), Ohio (go Buckeyes!), and the beautiful beaches of southern California during my teen years.
No matter how much I jumped around, one thing never changed: I knew I wanted to be a nurse. I've always loved caring for people and my mom tells me I'm a natural (just ask her about my first patient—our old dog, Lucky). So I studied hard and applied to school. Even though I was qualified, my top choice put me on a waiting list because they didn't have enough openings. When I finally got to Call Light College. . .WHOA! Total reality shock.
I was stressed out about everything from clinicals to my nemesis, the NCLEX® exam! That's why I created this page (hope you like it) and my site, www.stressedoutnurses.com (if you're into contests, jokes, and surprises, you won't be disappointed!). I know I need a break sometimes, so I figured why not share the break with my nursing buddies?!
Who I'd like to meet: Anyone from the cast of "Grey's Anatomy," but "Izzie" (Katherine Heigl) is my favorite. She's a Sagittarius, just like me. (My birthday is Dec. 18, so mark it on your calendar.)
I've actually always wanted to meet "Patch Adams," too. No, not Robin Williams, but the guy he plays in the movie. I think his whole "healing through humor" idea is awesome. I try to keep things as light and funny as I can. I mean, who doesn't like to laugh?
i met patch adams(the real one, not robin williams) in california a few years ago. he was super nice and a great person. good luck to all of the senior nursing students taking their boards this summer!!!!
