1337 is a ska band hailing from the hills of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA. Back in 2001, Jon Hom (bass/vocals) and his friend Dave Jung (sax) set out to create a band just for the sake of playing music and having fun doing it. They called upon the most elite players from the marching and jazz bands and formed 1337 (elite = leet = 1337...get it? good). Unfortunately, after some seniors had graduated, the band ceased to exist.
Fast forward to 2005, and 1337 is back in effect. We've lost a few members but have found some new ones. We still know all the old cover songs and have written a handful of originals in the past few months. We're a seasonal band (as in, we can only play during summer breaks, winter breaks, and spring breaks), so hopefully you can catch us while we're still here! We're still in the practicing stage, cleaning up our new songs (and our old ones as well), but we'll be ready to start doing shows in the next couple weeks, so look out for some dates!
Music Info
The samples you are hearing were recorded in July of 2005 on a minidisc recorder, meaning these are essentially live recordings... so don't expect anything spectacular! We literally placed the plug-in MD mics at the end of the driveway and played at them during one of our practices. We'll be updating the demos every time we practice so you can hear our progress.
