I get alot of my students from craigslist under the heading VOICELESSONSROCK Learn to love your OWN singing I actually came to the city to study in the masters creative writing program at New York University. Having jotted down a few poems I was pleased to be accepted into that program and studied for a year with some great writers..Sharon Olds, Galway Kinnell, E.L. Doctorow, and Molly Peacock. But, alas, I decided not to go further into debt and did not finish that degree. I had just come from my hometown Dallas, Texas, where I thought I might better stop living so hand to mouth as a performer and get a nice job in a university. I grew restless in that setting and realized that performing or the desire to create is not something I could leave behind. The longer I do it, the more I realize that the world is a friendly place and one can always find a way to carry on with what is most important to one's happiness and sense of purpose. Practical smactical! Why go to school to make money? It just doesn't add up to a satisfying life.
