In many countries I would be killed for this myspace:)
Well, my main interest is (As my buddy Jeffro would say) 'the Lord;)'
I also like to write, that's good stuff... check out my blog sometime, I'm starting a bit of a tale in there you may or may not enjoy. Maybe someone will even read it..? Oh, and this is cool too, I mean, who would have thought that Christ came to save also legos?
Music
Disciple okay, to be honest this picture is for special relations. I mean, everyone knows that you don't have an officially 'cool' myspace profile until you have a picture of someone rocking out, and with all of my star trek references and pics, I decided I needed to start balancing out my cool/nerd ratio. Anyways, that's a picture of Brad Noah from disciple.
I also like Matisyahu, Marley (and other reggea, cause its pretty dogone grand if you ask me) , of course Wierd Al is a must have for all your musical ventures:
Pretty much, anything that rocks pretty hard and isn't all about boring things like hatred and destruction (which leaves out quite a bit, I know, but a guy can dream can't he?)
Oh... let's see... any more specifices... oh yeah, I like Phil Keaggy. Supposedly, a reporter once asked Eric Clapton what it was like to be the best guitarist in the world, and he answered: "I don't know, ask Phil Keaggy."
These guys are pretty good:
And POD as well, just about anything that does rap metal stuff, if its done well and sounds good I like it. I like Skillet, Day of Fire... I like music that creates good atmosphere.
Movies
I liked most of the star trek flicks except for 1,5 and 7. Of my favorites, the Wrath of Kahn (star trek 2), The Undiscovered Country (star trek 6) and this one:
I also like star wars ok, but to be honest, the Trek is WAAAAY better (no offense to all of you lovers of lesser quality sci-fi out there). Probably my favorite Star Wars one was Episode 3 - I know saying that is like blasphemy cause 'its all about the originals' and the other two new ones were indeed pretty crappy, but the third one ALMOST made up for it... with the exception of the Frankenstein scene at the end: "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" I mean, what were they thinking? What was James Earl Jones thinking for following the idea? Not to get all intensive with star wars, but to quote Obi-Wan: "Who's the bigger fool? The fool, or the fool that follows?"
Anyways, enough of that. I also like the blues brothers and it may surprise you that I actually like it for spiritual reasons. The whole idea of the movie as that two criminals go to church and recieve a revelation from God about saving an orphanage, obviously they have alterior motives and obviously they don't live like your average, 'all holy' christians, they're just two guys who are doing what they think they need to do to complete the will of God; as Elwood perpetually says: "We're on a mission from God."
These were pretty cool too: ;
Oh, and I loved Shanghai Noon, its probably my favorite Jackie Chan movie. Prolly cause I had the idea for a while about writing a story about a gunslinging martial artist. Anyways, its funny... gotta love Owen Wilson, and he and Jackie together works pretty well (even though they both ussually play just about the same role in every movie they do) the two of them just have a good dynamic.
They made shanghai knights, which was pretty good too, but with the exception of perhaps my favorite quote in the movie: "Ever heard of parents? We have parents who love us. You don't, 'cause you're an orphan." I like it cause its just so harsh:)
I also thought this movie was pretty funny:
"Chancho... When you're a man, sometimes you wear stretchy pants in your room... Its for fun."
"We never win because you only believe in science!" -
"No, we never win because you are fat!"
Okay don't laugh too hard about this but I also like the first two Rocky movies... the rest that I've seen so far are basically crap, but the first 2 were good.
And I also liked this next film, I found it here on myspace, its a great credit to modern-silent film. Check it out:
The Grass Isnt Always Greener
Newsradio, (until the later episodes when they started running out of jokes and doing nothing but sexual humor, then it got lame and old),
Oh, and this video is pretty funny... I like the line: "What hit me...?"
Steve Rosswick fights Terrorists
I like different books.. most of which I can only read once, save the 'Word' which is actually a book that's alive so its pretty interactive so its easy to read constantly. But aside from it I like 'The Seer' by James Goll. I liked 'The Ragamuffin Gospel' - sort of - to be honest, it was really slow and boring but it killed a lot of religion in me, and that's always nice. More God, less religion.
There was one I liked called "Six big, big, big angels," its a factual written account of a little girl who traveled to heaven on a few occasions; it was good for that reason, but it also has a couple of my mentors in it, so that was pretty neat.
And just in general I like books about prophecy and the supernatural cause its cool.
Heroes
Jesus the spotless lamb of God is pretty cool, I mean... saving the world from sin was a pretty keen move. Umm... Human-Nathan-Oval-Pants (someone should make action figures); Jean Luc Picard and crew (Especially Barkley); Vash the Stampede
Wayne Anderson, Kevin Ford, James Berkley, Pat Holleran and other people who have greatly affected my life (probably without realising how much). Oh, and this guy is cool too, if you don't know who he is... well then you don't deserve to watch good movies, this guy is like the Thomas Edison of film making:
I mean: yeah, there were movies before him... but aside from the silent films (which was a completely different art), who gives a rip?
And of course there is one of (if not THE) greatest American martyrs, he was a prophet to our nation:
As well as one of the American martyrs from my own generation, miss Rachel Scott, killed at Columbine:
About me: My life is centered around serving this guy:
He's rad... well the real one, the pic is okay I suppose, but it really doesn't capture His majesty.
I like to do his will, and yes, I'm a radical. I've given up everything to follow Him, because in Him is perfection and I've decided I can't go on being as proud as I had been to think that I could live without Him. In case you aren't aquanted with what He's so popular for, let me give a brief overview:
Several thousands of years ago the world was made through Him by God the Father (he was a being made entirely of a substance called LOVE). Shortly thereafter the people who were created in his image, fell into sin. This posed a problem because He was perfect. We, having become imperfect, could therefore no longer enter his presence. It wasn't that He didn't want to be with us, in fact it was quite the contrary, with all His heart He longed to be with us, but our lack of perfection made it impossible for us to enter His presence.
To make matters worse, in Him is life... therefore since we weren't able to be in His presence we therefore became unable to live forever "for the wages of sin is death." And He had to watch us suffer through a miserable life without Him in the earth and then die and fall to the miserable grave. This filled Him with such frustration that He concentrated his love so stronly that it formed as a child in the womb of a woman named Mary. She gave birth to the first and only being who was a literal manifestation of love in human form. This love baby was named Jesus (or Immanuel, meaning 'God with us'), he grew to become a man who never sinned or spoke evil words in His entire life.
Because of the love He was made from He was perfect, he went throughout Isreal proclaiming the very Love that He Himself was to His people so that they could later proclaim it to the world because He had called them to be priests for Him. However because of the sinful state of mankind we sinners took the only perfect man who ever lived, this Holy manifestation of love and tortured him to death. We stripped him naked and beat the living shit out of him until he was a bloody sack of meat, panting for air. We then took this Love and forced it to carry a tree up a large hillside where we nailed him to it.
If you think that these actions would squelch the power of love think again. As he was dying on the tree He called out to the Father who created all things and begged that we be forgiven for the very things we did to Him.
Love died that day. We killed it. But the POWER of love can never be stopped. Three days after we killed it, it raised from the dead, and ascended to heaven. Now we can live at peace with God, the blood that Love poured out for us is the only perfect and Holy thing that has been spilt on the earth since its creation, by it we can literally enter the presence of God; we are made holy if we accept the Love that God sent into the world because when God looks at us, He no longer sees the sins we've committed but the perfect blood of Jesus who died for us.
So in case no one had ever told you; that, ladies and gentlemen, is why I give my life to Him. I hope that you all will.
That's My King
Who I'd like to meet: LT. Commander Data, that would be cool... not Brent Spiner, but the ACTUAL one from the future... you know, the guy the character from Star Trek is based on (I'm pretty sure Gene Roddenbery could see into the future).
And of course there's (here comes another spiritual reference) the Holy Spirit, whom I like to spend all my time with, but it would be cool to meet Him in the flesh... er Spirit... just in a vision or something I guess. Ezekial 8:2&3 "I looked, and I saw a figure like that of a man. From what appeared to be his waist down he was like fire, and from there up his appearance was as bright as glowing metal. He stretched out what looked like a hand and took me by the hair of my head. The Spirit lifted me up between earth and heaven and in visions of God he took me to Jerusalem..."
Oh, btw, did you know you have angelic warriors? I think I used to have the idea that angels were like these great, to be feared warriors that were always running around saving their kid-brother humans from demonic attacks. Actually angels are more like YOUR accompaniment. YOU are the warrior they follow, humans are like knights with soldiers (angels) under them. You may not realise that even if you are not in Christ, you have at least one spirit warrior who follows you for your safety and protection. One who looks up to you because you, unlike them, have the ability to be literally united in spirit with God. Cool, eh?
Hey did you get that application, i think mom said she sent it to your email. Yeah, i had my boss ask me if you gotten one yet, so you might want to maybe fill it out....
