13Human Souls is a free access, non-payment e-zine that showcases horror flash fiction (under 1,000 words) starting in July 2007. New stories will appear every month by the 13th day. You won’t find any zombies, vampires or outer-space man-eating frogs here. All the people in these stories are human, the kind you see on the morning commute to work or sitting in a coffee shop or maybe serving you your food at Denny’s. What fear can a creature from a swamp instill in you that could possibly compare to the horror of finding out that your neighbor of twenty years has been drinking a morning protein shake made of blended body parts? Hold on… had a toenail stuck in my teeth.
So take your hand – or the one you severed from an accident victim – and move the mouse down to a story that seems particularly appealing (or disgusting) and sit back for a glimpse into the horror that festers inside us all.
