    Naraka started off in 2009 as a solo project by Vanan Kesavan. He recorded and released his first self-titled album "Naraka" in the spring of 2010. The following summer he went on to recruit a full line up and the band began to play their first shows. Aaron Newton joined in June 2010 as the drummer. Derek Griffin joined on the 5-String in May of 2011, and after several line-up changes, the trio are currently seeking a new lead guitarist. Continuing full speed ahead, writting new material, playing/booking shows, (with several openings for the Singaporean band, Rudra [one of the band's main influences], as well as other local Medicine Hat appearances) the spring/summer of 2011 has set up to be an exciting time for this new band.
