Igor Prado fell in love with the guitar when he was 11 years old. Self-taught and left-handed, Igor learned to play the guitar upside down and backwards (with the thinnest string on top) and once he discovered the blues, he took on the most challenging undertaking – to study and play the blues in Brazil. Currently, he plays in the “Prado Blues Band”, which is a group dedicated to Blues / West Coast Swing / Jump Rhythm & Blues. The band has released 3 CD’s in Brazil and distributed in the United States under the label Pacific Blues Records in which became one of the leading albuns among all blues artists.

During his solo career Igor released his first solo album called "Upsidedown" with special guests like R.J Mischo, Steve Guyger, Greg Wilson, Ron Dziubla (Sax player of Lynwood Slim, Kid Ramos), J.J Jackson and others. It was named after his lefty, upsidedown playing techniques and also because of the fact that he is a ‘south american playing blues’.

Igor and his band has also played in many tours with different international artists such as Eddie C. Campbell, Steve Guyger, James Wheeler, Phil Guy, Bob Stroger, Mud Morganfield (the oldest son of muddy waters), R.J Mischo, Mark Hummel, Lynwood Slim, Gary Smith, Mitch Kashmar, Rick Estrin (Little Charlie & The Nightcats) and Kim Wilson & Billy Flynn (2011).

Real Blues Magazine placed Igor’s album ‘UpsideDown’ under the top ten Blues CD’s chart of 2007. He has received many nominations and compliments of several magazines such as Blues Revue (US), Southland Blues (US), Blues Matters (England), Blues Wax (US), Twoj Blues (Poland), Juke Blues (UK) etc.

  • Jazz & Blues Florida - …

Moving on and turning out the lights...
MySpace Clearance: Florida's online guide to live jazz & blues info is leaving MySpace.
    Hello MySpace Friend!
Jazz & Blues Florida is bailing out of MySpace and focusing on our own websites now. We thought Facebook was the way to go, but now it looks like that is disintegrating, too.
If you really want to connect to Florida's jazz & blues scene come check out our main site at www.JazzBluesFlorida.com and if you like what you see, shoot me an email and let me know  you want to sign up for our email list. You can opt for daily, weekly or monthly contact and change your mind at any time.
If you are musician based or touring here, our listings are free - we just need to know about them. Use the email address below to send us the info.
I am sure you understand the value of these connections and that nowadays providing that connection is your contribution to what keeps us going, like the money you used to spend on newspapers.  This is a one-time request. We will be deleting your MySpace connection after we send this out so you will not be hearing from us again here.
See you on the other side, where the good music is happening! Please excuse us if you are already over there, we had to do this as auto as possible due to the high number of friends we have to process.

”...a young talent from South America that has been quickly making a name for himself as one of the best guitarplayers to emerge in the past few years.”
Don Jacobson / Southland Blues - USA

”Your guitar playing is equal to that of the better US guitarists in this same genre. You clearly have a deep grasp of the various early 1950s blues traditions. You play with taste, talent, energy and good attention to tone. The band are tight, and the players are very good. I enjoyed your vocals too!”
Bruce Iglauer / Alligator Records - USA

”West Coast Blues is alive and well and living in Brazil! Doubters need only spin Igor Prado Band!”
Blues Revue Magazine - USA

”Man you are a swinging maniac!!!”
Junior Watson / West Coast Guitar Monster - USA

“…Igor Prado has been steadily gaining a reputation as one of the leading south-of-the-border practitioners of that 1940s and 1950s finger-popping jump blues sound!” “ The new album (Brazilian Kicks) is one of the most enjoyable albums I've heard in quite a while” ”
Gary Von Tersch / Big City Rhythm Blues Magazine - Chicago - USA

”Frankly, without knowing who the players are one would immediately think of West Coast USA rather than Brazil…the band are all young and play like veterans!”
John Mitchell / Blues Blast Magazine - UK

”This album (Brazilian Kicks) is clearly among the best blues records I have heard in 2010…”
Ron Weinstock / Jazz & Blues Report Mag. - USA

”I like your sense of melody on the jump blues and boogie numbers - a little bit of jazz, a bit of Texas guitar, with an original twist. Keep up the good work - it's refreshing to hear a young talent that sounds like an old guy!”
Little Charlie Baty / LC&Nightcats - USA

”Braziliam Blues, I did not know that, but turns out that blues guitarrist Igor Prado is a big name in the blues world down South America way!”
Stuart A.Hamilton / Blues Matters! - UK

”You play like a HEAVY WEIGHT american players!! Your vocals sound really strong and...your band kicks ass!!!!”
Rick Estrin / singer and harp player - USA

”KILLER!!! It's actually better than 95% of the U.S. Blues CDs we've heard in 2007. We'll be putting it on our TOP 100 BLUES CDs Chart in the next couple of days!”
Andy Grigg / Real Blues Magazine – Canada

”Blues music fans think of the music as an original American artform, also played by bands from Europe and Canada. You can add Brazil to the list and credit the Igor Prado Band as spearheading the blues in South America to the rest of the world.” ..
Jerry Hall / Pacific Blues Records – USA

”Igor Prado, from San Paulo, is a jump blues guitarist of the highest order, has a very hot band, Prado has a guitar tone to die for"
Juke Blues Magazine – UK

”One of the most entertaining surprises of 2007: The blues has moved to Brasil!”
Jocopo Meille / Il Popolo del Blues – Italy

”Prado’s guitar solos are always interesting! He shows maturity far beyond his 25 years”
Richard Ludmerer / Blues Wax – USA

”Igor Prado is a musician who really knows what he wants to do and how to get it. He is also a tasteful guitar player who does elegant arrangements.”
Zummel / La Hora del Blues – Spain

”Igor seems to be a creative and inventive guitar player. He controls all the styles he approachs, while adding his own personal signature.”
Jean Claude Mondo / Music Zine – France

”You are one of those handful of players, true to the form of West Coast blues but at the same expressing your own musical personality through it. Your guitar licks are imaginative and memorable – it is evident that you know guitar stylings of Junior Watson, Hollywood Fats or Pee Wee Crayton from A to Z but instead of copying them used them as a base for your own style. Very classy!”
Przemek Draheim / Blues Poland
