He's back to writing songs again and enjoying music for the art it really is. Basically a string man Steve uses two Fender Stratocasters 1972 & 1991 one Fender Jazz Bass 1966 and a Gibson Melody Maker 1961. Main guitar is a Yamaha F-450 Acoustic six string. Solo can play harmonica on a stand bluegrass and crosswind blues style. Steve Solo plays Rock and Blues but is a Country boy at heart wailing out Hank's and Willie's style.
Musically trained Stephen W started out with piano lessons at the age of 5. No piano in the house went to grandma'a to practice once every few months. Picked up the guitar at the age of 12 forming his first band at 16. He studied theory and ear training at McGill in Montreal, and studied lyrical writing at Concordia University. Steve has been an apprentice to Craig Morrison and a journeyman to Country Music's Bob Fuller recording with both artists.
Steve Solo started playing in high school and enjoyed much success on the local scene with different bands and formations. Solo has toured in most of the Canadian Provinces from Caraquet to Dawson Creek, singing in Legions or arenas, dressed in beads or boots. He plays a wireless guitar and uses the room as a stage.
In a recent phone interview with SWLeBLANC he commented further "The scene has changed people don't go out like we used to so there are less and less in the clubs now. Funny that since the night clubs are smoke free in Québec I can sing 40 to 50 songs all night long, but the place is empty everyone is smoking outside."
Steve went on, "Sylvie and I would rather do parties and weddings but we don't know what the future lies. I want to make records and videos in my studio café. We just wanna have fun"
