  • Duran Duran last night

    I am more than a little sluggish today due to a little over-indulgence last night at a private concert by Duran Duran at Cipriani's.  Fisrt off what a place! Marble walls, lush decor and fantastic food (dinner was served too btw).  So open bar all night got the better of me this morning but made for a heck of a time last night. Deutsche Bank sponsored a benefit auction and concert for amfAR - American Foundation for Aids Research and they actually managed to raise $1.25 mil. with a live auction run by Sharon Stone.  (my wife said she had too much make-up on.. i said pshaw!)  There were quite a few big-wigs falling prey to Sharon's wiley ways up there and their checkbooks paid for it.  Cast of characters there.. mannnnny models running around too.. I never thought of myself as short 5'11'' till last night.  Anyyyhoo.. DD! They played about 90 minutes and rocked the house big time..  the fact that there were only about 400 people there was offset by the number of models prancing about so they played their butts off and i am certain in payed off later at the after-party.. which I sadly turned down (duty calls)  Just know that DD still has got it and gots it gooood!  All the original members except Andy Taylor were up there and they really sounded as if they had never been apart for all those years.  I highly recommend seeing them if they are playing a venue anywhere nearby. Ok enough typing.. getting dizzy.  Shoot me out an email if you want more details.  viva la Duran Duran!

        True story.  I always said that when I finally get the ultimate band together, we're going to do the heaviest cover of that song in the universe.

  • Sweatin like a nun at a prison rodeo

    Well its August 2nd here in NY on what is most likely the hottest day we will see around here for many a moon.   Close to 100 fahrenheit. + humidity.   Its enough to keep one from going outside for smoke breaks.  Well almost.   My wares need changing already and I am seriously considering moving to Nome AK.  This global warming crap is for real folks and if you don't believe me take it from the seat of my pants.  Scary stuff. Stay cool y'all.

        Man...sorry...this is a pretty old post and I guess I haven't been around much, but I remember that heat wave.

        You couldn't put a clean shirt on.  Everything was just gross from all the humidity.

    Time for a Rant.

    Whatever happened to the working class earning working class pay?  They earn more than teachers and dare to strike and screw the little guy during the Christma.. er sorry Holiday season?!  F-um... Screw the unions.. they should have went the way of the dodo and communism a long time ago.  And screw the MTA while were in the screwin spirit. Mismanagement at its worst...  found a billion $ they didnt know they had? come on.  Privatize the system and watch the subways run on a schedule. 7 million ride the rails for at least $4 a day.  I expect caviar and a friggin lap dance on every ride with the money they haul in.  I Sound bitter.. yeah. Too uppity?.. ok. But their bullshite has to be called.   Thats it I'm movin to Toledo. Bwahhhhhahah.
