DJ ZO aka Alonzo Valencia was hooked on gangster rap ever since his
older sister bought
him his first cassette tape. "It was Snoop Dogg's Doggystyle & I was
in 1st grade circa 1993." Throughout Elementary his tape collection
consisted of Dj Quik, MC Eiht, Outkast & 2pac. Building his music
library at an early age. In Junior High his Uncle Krazy Dee (who
toured with N.W.A. & was a close friend of the late Eric "Eazy-E
Wright") introduced him to his first Turntables. ZO started spinning
for freestyle seesions for his friends after school. "It was just fun
to dig for beats & let my boys spit." While in High School he would
catch wreck at parties & linked up with local crew Lyfe Cykle. Doing
shows with short sessions afterwards sparked the interest to find a
resident gig. Since then ZO has played at many spots & likes to keep
his gangster rap influence in his DJ sets. "If I can play Too Short,
Justice, David Bowie & Oh No, it's a good night." Mixtapes circulate
around the valley with the DJ ZO stamp on it sharing his skills & love
for the music.
