Biography
Truth is as it is often said to be, 'stranger than fiction':
The story of oneiric, prounounced, (or rather mispronounced), "oh-knee-rick", begins in the brain of one, Evyn Evil; who at the time was on a quest to find the drummer he'd been marching to in his head for 20 years.
Legend has it, Evyn was wasting away a perfectly good day at a friend's house. A call came to him about a Nada Surf / OZMA show a few towns away taking place that evening. With a terrible migrain, Evyn told his friend he would not attend, hung up, and soon forgot about the call. Suddenly, Evyn leaps up and declares he had heard a voice in his head that told him to 'go and find the drummer' that he had been searching for. Low and behold, as he walked into the venue, the opening band that was finishing their set was harboring just that drummer. Shocked by this, Evyn waited for the band to leave the stage and approched the sweaty percussionist. After a brief discussion, Joe Meier had agreed to leave his band and form what would later be known as oneiric.
The foundation for the band was now set, but they still needed a name. Then, while wasting away another perfect day, at another friends house, Evyn thumbs through a dictionary, stopping on the word, 'oneiric'. Having always been fascinated with dreams, he decides the word was more than perfect. It seemed to resonate through his being.
Low and behold, the band was taking shape. For Bass, Evyn recruited an old friend Dave Anderson. They sign a lease on monthly rehearsal space, and move in on April 15th, 2002. After one year, endless hours of rocking, a three song demo, and a few outakes, Joe and Dave grew tired of Evyn's leadership and decide to leave the band, despite the fact that they gained industry acclaim and a legion of fans without ever playing a single show. They move out of the rental space on April 15th, 2003. Evyn lost touch with the other band members, disappeared, grew a beard, and has now reportedly been living reclusively with his girlfriend, limiting his contact with the outside world to food shopping at the local supermarket.
The songs that oneiric recorded are raw, and filled with passion, which will remain powerful for many years to come, despite the short time that the band existed.
